Lovely old pub, near the cockle sheds at the start of Old Leigh. Food a bit slow coming but good quality when it arrives. A bit pricy but OK.

Lovely Old Leigh on the Thames Estuary. Great for pubs and food all the way along. Good wet fish shops at the fishermen's cooperative and Osbornes near the cockle sheds.

Lovely way to spend the day from the cockle sheds to the sea food, pubs and beach. Sara's tea rooms is worth a visit. Lovely cakes.

We found Old Leigh after walking west from Southend. It was a pretty little place with quaint buildings. The heritage centre and attached fisherman's cottage were interesting. A short walk up the hill brings you to the bustling modern centre of Leigh.

Historical area where you can get fresh seafood (try the cockles) and even afternoon tea in a tea shop. Ice cream can be had, as well as a pint and some food. Worth the walk around.
