Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Less than two months ago my son and I headed off on what was to be the most fantastic photography trip with Martial Fatton of Blue Tongue Photography Tours. Martial is an extremely experienced tour guide, knowledgeable in photography practice and theory, he took us to beyond the normal tourist trail to some extraordinary places. From Newman back to Perth over a two week period we saw an Australia the average traveller/photographer doesn’t get to visit.

My son (30) was the rookie photographer who had never taken his camera off it’s Ai setting, while mine was not exactly up to spec. Nevertheless Martial was extremely patient, guiding us to use our equipment to achieve magical photos. From the moment we picked up our cameras we were in Manual mode. His ‘one on one’ attention when needed and ability to stand back made for a true learning experience.

Two Kiwis we throughly enjoyed WA’s remote National parks, driving kilometres of red dust roads through the outback, loved the authentic experience of camping in really remote stations or campgrounds. We climbed down into five of the gorges in Karijini, exploring their twists and turns. From Astro in the evenings or up early enough for the pre-dawn light in the mornings, Martial knew where to go and when to see such beauty in Australia’s landscapes.

The tour didn’t only include the outback, travelling west from Karijini we arrived in Exmouth to begin the journey south to Perth. At Francis Peron National Park we saw Blue Fairy terns, rescued a Thorny Devil from the road which was the “icing on the cake” to the huge variety of wildlife we saw. Martial would stop and do everything he could to ensure we were able to photograph the interesting - often just glimpsed - such as the huge black eagles. Highlights included surfers at the reef in Kalbarri, and the Pinnacles in Nambung National Park. Too many to list.

We both highly recommend Martial Fatton of Blue Tongue Photography tours and would travel with him on another tour at any time

Recently had a couple of tours, one night time and one sunrise with Martial while we were in Kalbarri. Both trips were excellent. As it was only the 2 of us, Martial had plenty of time and patience teaching hubby about his camera and how best to capture some great shots. He didn’t even mind that I was cheating and using my iPhone to take pictures! Martial is very knowledgeable and his humour is great. He is very organised even having bottles of water, morning tea and snacks for us. We had a great time and we highly recommend Martial’s tours. We will be booking some more this year. Many thanks from Darren and Tracey.

A fantastic trip to the south of Western Australia, with extraordinary photo opportunities. Martial knows not only which locations to visit to get the best shots, but also offers such a widely different perspective on ordinary landscapes and objects that the images are brought to life. Highly recommended tours. Thank you Martial!

Just back from a second, wonderful photo tour with Martial Fatton of Blue Tongue Photo Tours. Over 17 days, we ticked off the highlights of south west WA, starting in Margaret River where Martial had organised a couple of winery visits, canoeing on the Margaret River and sections of the Cape to Cape hike. From there we visited Pemberton, The Stirling Range, Albany, Fitzgerald River National Park, Esperance and Lucky Bay before heading inland to Wave Rock and New Norcia, finishing with a night shoot at the Pinnacles on the way back to Perth.
With Martial's detailed knowledge of the locations, we were always in the right place at the right time, photographing everything from landscapes to architecture, the lunar eclipse, the Milky Way, wildlife, shoes hung on a fence, birds, wild flowers and old trucks. Martial is a fantastic photographer and a great teacher who willingly shared his knowledge of all things photography, including some great post-processing tips.
I highly recommend a tour with Martial - such an awesome way to see the best of Western Australia with endless photo opportunities and expert tuition. I will be back!

A truly memorable 12 days with Martial in Karijini, Shark Bay, Kalbarri and the Pinnacles. A helpful and informative instructor, Martial has the patience of a saint! His local knowledge of all locations we visited was invaluable in ensuring we were where we needed to be and his willingness to share his expertise as an accomplished photographer was key to a wonderful learning experience. He also cooked a mean piece of fish! For anyone interested in photography - at ay level - a photo tour with Blue Tongue Photo Tours is a fantastic way to experience Western Australia. I can't wait to come back :)

Can’t speak highly enough of Martial and the tour he put together. It's all about the photography and every day, we were at multiple locations – all of them stunning – learning to shoot in different settings. Great thought has gone into every aspect of the tour – the locations, travel, food, accommodation (camping was a great group activity but so, too, was the more comfortable accommodation in week 2) – to make sure you get the best out of your photography while visiting fantastic destinations that you might not otherwise go to. And Martial was endlessly patient in teaching the art of photography and always willing to spend one-on-one time with all of us. A great guy and a great trip.

I recently returned from a 14-day photography tour of Karijini National Park, and I cannot speak highly enough of the experience. Martial Fatton was an exceptional host, sharing not only his deep photographic expertise but also a warm and generous spirit. His profound local knowledge and genuine passion for this stunning region allowed us to connect with the landscape in ways that would have been impossible on our own. Each location was carefully chosen, providing a perfect balance of iconic views and hidden gems, and Martial was always on hand to offer insightful tips, whether you were capturing your first shot or refining your skills as a seasoned photographer. The tour was both an educational and deeply enriching experience, and I wholeheartedly recommend Blue Tongue Tours to anyone looking to explore Western Australia's natural beauty through the lens.

I was lucky enough to be part of a New Zealand photography trip organized by Blue Tongue Tours. The experience had a lot to offer.
A year earlier I joined a 14 day trip, also by Blue Tongue Tours, traveling from Exmouth to Broome. On this trip I had a great time and benefited greatly from Martials knowledge, experience and expertise.
It was a very easy decision to join Martial on another photography trip to the South Island of New Zealand. It was again, very enjoyable, well organized, full of great learning and a wonderful photography experience. Being part of a small group allows Martial to check in on everyone and to offer his professional help with the camera or composition. Accommodation locations were well placed for varying and interesting landscape photos. I would definitely recommend workshops run by Martial and Blue Tongue Tours. Looking forward to the next one.
