ここで合ってるのかな？と心配になるくらい小さな入り口から入って行きました。
手前の建物で受付後に、奥の小さな建物から地下に入って行きます。
階段から下が見えるようになっているので深さが分かります。
小さな島にこんなに大きな仕掛けがあるなんで驚きでした。
ダムカードもあるようです。
実際に歩ける場所は地下ダムを作る時に使ったトンネルだそう。

トンネル途中の窓からは、石灰岩しか見えないが、蛇口をひねると水がドバドバ出てくるのが驚異で、楽しんでいただきました。

隆起サンゴの島の問題や特徴、それを生かした解決策としてのダムが見学できる。単純な発想ながらハイテクなダムで、土木工事の醍醐味が感じられる。地味ですが、非常に面白いです。声が響く地価の密室感覚、カップルには特におすすめ・・・♡

その全長を聞くと、喜界島が水に困らないわけが分かります。階段を使って結構な地下まで降りるので、足腰の不自由な方には不向きです。出た所にある土産屋とカフェはおすすめ。

旅行中奄美の方におすすめされ行きました。場所は加工センター？ゆいカフェの隣です。何も無い畑の中にポツンと有ります。２０分くらいの紹介ビデオを見ますか？と聞かれましたが時間が無く急いでいたのでそのまま地下見学だけしました。アナウンスボタンがあり説明が流れていますが音が響いてしまい聞きにくいです。時間が有る方は２０分案内を見てからちゃんと見学することをおすすめします。☆－１は、地下に下りる長い階段と地上へ上がる長い階段です。階段しか無いと思うのでご年配の方や小さいお子様は大変だと思います。地下をくぐるとゆいカフェの裏へ出ますので、そこで一息つくのもいいかもしれませんね(^^)

水資源に乏しい喜界島では、地下ダムによって水を蓄えて、島の様々な場所へ給水しているらしく、そのダムの一部の地下トンネルを見学することができます。
水管理センターで、見学したいと声をかけてから、建物の裏手の入り口から入っていきます。
料金箱が置かれていて、１００円お願いしますとのことでした。
階段を降りて行くと、巨大な地下トンネルがあり、ちょっと驚きました。行ってみる価値があると思いました。
ボタンを押すと、説明の案内が流れるところが何箇所かありますが、スピーカーが入り口のところにあるだけなのか、地下で、ボタンを押しても案内がちゃんと聞こえないのが残念でした。
