We enjoyed the beautiful Sleeping Buddha which is acclaimed to be biggest in the world. The Buddha looks so serene and nice. We visited on a windy and cold day, totally enjoyed it. Managed to see a pussy willow tree blooming too.

...it is well worth the trip. Epic reclining Buddha set in beautiful natural surroundings though I wonder why they built that building behind it. There is also a lot more to see around this place like temples, shrines and other Buddhas. This makes for an...More

We venture out of Fukuoka to visit this temple. The beauty of the scenery and the ride on the local train made this visit worth it. We spend the day walking around the trails in the temple.

On the same scale as the Nara and Kamakura Buddhas and very impressive. Quite a nice walk up to it too.

Just felt awestruck visiting this temple with one of the largest Buddha statues in the world. A reclining Buddha.. and a peaceful temple inside though one has to pay for it..

This place apparently has the largest bronze Buddha in the world. The view and scenery is really serene and peaceful. There are also some cute sculptures and decorations around that we can take photos with. We spent about 2-3 hours there. We took a train...More

A massive Buddha statue! This is slightly outside of Hakata city so had to take the metro to get here. It was worth it. You could hike up the place and get a really good view of the city.

I think you can still go there earlier. You can still roam around the area, I think. Its never a problem, if waiting is not an issue to you.
