Taiji is a beautiful spot and it is the epicentre of the dolphin annual catch and kill as well as the whaling lobbying in Japan. It takes a lot of information to be able to understand and judge these activities but please do not promote...More

Arrogant fishermen have kidnapped dolphin young to sell to dolphinariums. Some protesters along the way to it. Some are in the whale museum as exhibits and others taught to do stupid tricks for dead fish. The tanks these poor creatures are in are filthy and...More

Shocking to see how animals are so badly treated and disrespected there... This isn't so surprising, given that Taiji is the place of massive dolphins slaughter each year

This place is the most vile place. The tanks are filthy, and the dolphins are in such small tanks. Thanks but NO tanks!

The young children in our group started crying because the animal cruelty is so bad in this place. There is so much chlorine in the tank that the dolphins can’t even open their eyes! They support annual dolphin hunts and do not understand animal welfare....More

I took my teenage children to the whale museum and should have known better. The tanks are far too small and disgustingly dirty. You can see black stains and filthy water these dolphins have to live in. The whole experience was beyond depressing. All of...More

This museum is more for young kids. The highlight is the 15 minutes whale and dolphin show. There is 45 minutes in between 2 shows where you can visit the museum. The museum has English panels which very well explain the rise and fall of...More

Dolphins and whales are just floating on the surface just 50 meters from the ocean. Not a place to get an educated insight of how these animals live especially when you can see then in the wild the authorised of the rocks. Tanks are dirty!

Visited here in November 2015 as part of the Matsushima-island cruise (from Nachi-Katsuura). I think this is by far the easier way to see the museum by public transport whilst you are visiting the Kumano shrines and countryside. The cruise itself costs 1350 yen and...More

Hello ! Fully agree with you, and the only thing we can do is to support organizations -such as Sea Shepherd for example- who fight against such criminals.
