It was the best time of fall colors when I visited there. There were a lot of people even it was on weekday. It is not free to see waterfalls. After you purchase a ticke, you will walk through tunnels to see waterfalls. There were elevators to go to view points, so I think it is accessible for elderly people.... More

We like to come here every once in a while. The view always varies...according to season! Fall is popular so if you go then...go early or risk getting stuck in traffic along the way! I don't know if it's true or not. The Japanese tend to believe that you get some benefit from negatively charged ions. Consequently they have a... More

We came there in July, the waterfall was not as large as it can be, but still it is a nice view. You walk through tunnels to the most optimal view of the falls. Of course there are some shops and some restaurants for the tourists.

We visited these falls at the end of August and they were pumping, it starts off with a stroll down a quiet street in the Daigo-Machi area where there's some souvenir shops, you then walk up a steep little street and pay at the entrance to see the falls, you walk through a tunnel that has a few different viewing... My boyfriend and I have visited this in August and there was not plenty of water falling. I highly recommend this place in spring time because it's full of water and you can see all the Sakuras blooming!!

There is an entrance fee to see the falls as well as quite a walk, but it is worth it. The walk through the small town before the falls provides one some time to relax and hava a small meal or ice cream/shave ice. The latter which is very enjoyable on a hot summer day! The walk up to the... More

What more can I say than others have? One of the major waterfalls to see according to our family in Japan. The small town was also nice for a stroll and shopping. We were there during low season, so may have had a nicer experience than others -- very few people. Be prepared to walk a fair amount up the... More

Daigo town Ibaraki Prefecture. This waterfall have a wonderful heart shape stone in the middle. You have to walk through the tunnel to see the waterfall and take the elevator to the top for viewing. The bamboo forest on the way back to the car park is fantastic.

Went to the waterfall early in the morning, taking the train from Mito to Fukuroda and reaching Fukuroda Station at 8.45am. The first bus haven't started running yet and there were no taxis to be seen. The only way to the waterfall was a 45 minutes walk, which I did. The walk was pleasant and I saw many flowers, apple...
