Before going to Okinawa, Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium was already my number one sightseeing location due to its fame and popularity. Besides, my boy was so eager and exciting of seeing Menta Rays and whale sharks. We parked our car at Carpark P7 which was closest to the aquarium entrance. The Ocean Expo Park area is rather big and as it... More

Spent 2 hours here and enjoyed the stay the hilight is the whale shark. While we did not stay for the feeding, I am sure that must be quite a sight.

I had been to another aquarium in Toronto Canada that blew this one out of the water but the big tank here did absolutely amaze me. But other than that it was kind of dull but I would go just to see that massive tank again.

A deservingly popular attraction. It goes without saying that you should try to get there as close to opening time as possible to avoid the crowds. We arrived around 9am after driving from Naha, and it was definitely busy by the time we visited all the attractions by lunchtime. Make time for all the attractions, not just the aquarium -... More

While I wouldn't place it as an activity on my bucket list, I can say the marine life and the aquariums were the most diverse and largest I've experienced. I haven't been to the 1st and 2nd largest, but this does appear to be one of the world's largest. Only downsides (or notes): -since it is popular, expect crowds. The... More

The Churaumi Aquarium is often ranked the number 1 attraction in Okinawa and honestly I have to disagree. While the large tank is impressive the actual aquarium itself is quite small, and having visited other aquariums (e.g. Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan) I find the one in Okinawa a little disappointing, its not overly interactive which I (and my children) personally enjoy... Only the aquarium requires entry fees, rest of the park with sea turtles, dolphin pools, manatee pools etc are free. Do spend a whole day there to explore the whole place. Churaumi aquarium's star should be the 2 huge whale shark, don't miss their feeding time, you don't get to to see this very often, it's a spectacular view.

I recently visited this aquarium on a blustery day in late December with my husband, son and daughter in law. Because of the rain and wind we were not able to enjoy this lovely place to it's maximum. While we loved the aquarium and it's inside exhibits, we were unable to visit the dolphins and enjoy it's spectacular location above... More

Love the WIDE display of the whale sharks, the shark feeding was such an entertaining moment. Too bad we missed the dolphin show due to the constant rain, but the aquarium was really huge and so much to see.
