What a great place - all levels covered off - Panorama lives up to its name. Crowds are non existent with us having the runs to ourselves at times. Well groomed runs with very comfortable skiing. Blue sky days are amazing but when it's snowing...More

Really nice resort, Lots of terrain to choose from and good snow. I was a Ski instructor at Evergreen Ski School and I really enjoyed my season. I would recommend going to happo on holiday. However the ski lifts really need an upgrade as they're...More

Fantastic week skiing here, views are magic from the top. Excellent snow. Not much in the way of crowds. Ski school was good too. Only negative is that they close lifts a lot with wind, and there is only 1 gondola - otherwise you are...More

I'm an intermediate to advanced skier and I like this mountain. However, I came here specifically to teach my gf how to ski. My idea was to get her going on the "bunny slopes" of the sakko beginner area and once she was comfortable, I...More

I wonder why so many international visitors go to Hokkaido when this area is handy to Tokyo. It is a nice resort to spend a few days and I would say appeals to intermediate skiiers? The resort may be a little old as they rely...More

Having many courses with a various level of difficulty, Happo-one is a nice place spend your vacation in winter. Different from some ski resort, it is closed to the village area of Hakuba. Resturants, hotels, even convenient store cluster around. To go to the ski...More

We had some pretty epic days on Happo this Feb. There is something for everyone on this mountain from mellow groomers to some truly amazing OOB areas. (I should say in the interest of safety, as with all mountains if you intend to go off...More

The line just to get onto the gondola was crazy and then to get back down (due to lack of snow). We went in peak season with not much snow cover. This made it slightly un-enjoyable. Not much for advanced skiers.

Japanese efficiency and comfort while skiing. Good trails, excellent conditions, not too crowded and very accessible. Try the cafeterias and have a baileys coffee.

We will be in Hakuba 19-22 Dec, and are first time skiers & snowboarders. Do we need advance booking for private lessons on all days or just the first day? We want to try out both activity and are not sure which one we prefer and would want to flexibility to decide when we are there after trying out the activities.

My suggestion is to contact hakubasnowsports directly and book for the first day as a try out, then at the end of day you can decide what next. They are extremely flexible and helpful. Improved my skiing out of sight!!
My husband, myself and my adult daughter and her partner are spending 4 days at Happo One late January 2017. My husband is senior but an experienced skier. He probably wouldn't tackle black runs. My daughter is a fair skier, her partner a good snowboarder. I have never been a good skier and I'm not sure I want to ski at all. Are there day tours I can take instead of skiing? I don't know if I'll have much to do during the day if everyone else is skiing, but I haven't ruled out having a bit of a go. Thanks if anyone has any tips on what else to do.
