The street is loaded with old traditional buildings. Few sell locally made items. Few good Japanese style restaurants are very good as well. Very impressive to visit this area. The railway maybe the best way to get here. Other way will be via a tour bus.

If you enjoy walking along old houses through narrow but less-trodden roads then you will enjoy this village (valley), Old water wheels, canals, post boxes, dot the streets. There is a public (free) foot onsen near an old bridge overlooking the river whose banks are accessible. Good for meditation or just plain relaxation. Historically, samurais used to go pass this... More

Sleepy resort town in the Kiso Valley. The foot-Onsen, feudal check point, river and governors home are not to be missed. In mid july there is a local festival.
