Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice quiet beach (on the day we went) in Emerald Beach, just north of Coffs Harbour. A small park abuts the beach and there’s free parking along the street by the beach. Lot’s of free space as the beach was not busy. Nice clean sand, garbage bins located near parking. A number of surfers out catching waves. A bonus is you can walk up the path to the headland overlooking the beach and see the resident kangaroos. We also looked down to the water and you can see turtles swimming by. South of Emerald Beach and the headland is Shelly Beach. The Solitary Islands Coastal Walk runs all along the water here (through the headlands too). A nice walking path with steps on the hills.

Had a lovely afternoon swimming at the beach. Nice sand and water was warm. Definitely make sure you do the headland walk as seeing the kangaroos is great and the views are beautiful.

Wow what an amazing beach this was we were there later in the afternoon and there was not a single person around we had the beach to ourselves. It was pristine and would gladly send all my friends there to enjoy.

Stayed in the caravan park. It's in a lovely bush setting with plenty of bird and animal life. Was a bit miffed and being charged $9 a night for the dog. When questioned was told 'it's a long weekend surcharge'. Didnt even get doodie bags! The dog off leash beach was AMAZING and softened the surcharge a little. Be sure to take the little path to the headland...its not a hard climb and he view is worth it.

This beautiful beach deserves 5 stars for being family friendly and just perfect with one very important caveat. The people who use the dog free side of the beach WILL NOT PICK UP AFTER THEIR DOGS. I asked one guy to pick up after his cattle dog pooped right next to a family of young kids. I thought he was going to kill me.

Even worse - people who put their plastic bags full of dog poop on the beach and then 'forget' to pick it up. Eight tonnes of plastic dumped into our oceans every day - way to go adding to that. One evening, the kids and I picked up about 11 bags from the beach. It was just so off and so unfair to the people who live there.

We have two dogs. Few things more beautiful than watching them run free and splashing in the water. Few things more disgusting than stepping on dog poop or watching it wash into water that children are swimming in. Seriously, visitors - we can all do better.

Lovely beach with playground, toilet (dirty) and a shower. The beach is clean, many surfers today. Walked up the path to the headland, lovely walk, careful kangaroo poop, i think there must be many during sunrise and sunset. Just crossed 1. View is breathing. We walked from the beach to the look at me now sign, passing through the headland, 1km one way. 20 mins one way. There are other walks if you are interested. Up to 30Km.

Look at me now headland walk. The walk can be accessed via stairs from the beach when the tide is out, or from Dammerel Crescent where there is a car park.
You can do all or just part of the walk which takes in beautiful coastal views. To do the whole walk, which is a loop walk, will take around 30-45minutes.
Emerald Beach is a lovely spot to spend your day, whether swimming or just relaxing, or maybe a walk along the beach. If you walk north, there is a track that will take you to the adjoining Fiddamans Beach which is also part of the Solitary Island beach walk.

This beach and surrounds stole my heart. I found a fab Airbnb (the havens), and visit solo here every few years. It's my getaway secret. The water, the views the capacity for it to fill my heart. This is a special place.

We rented a house (Pandamas on Emerald)for a 3 night stay, recently, the location was excellent, being the first house next to the beach and park , although the house looks a bit dated from the outside the interior was excellent ,being clean and very well appointed with all you needed ,for a family stay, only bring food and toys,
The only criticism we have is that the property was not maintained very well with loose door locks ,windows that could not be opened ,and one that could not be closed in wet weather, and the carpet adjacent to the sliding door in the games room was wet and actually growing moss in one corner, from being wet for some considerable time. Some maintenance was required!

A lovely beach for a relaxing time with the family. The kids had fun digging holes and making sandcastles and the waves were great for bodyboarding.
