There was lots of snow there in April - not on the cleared roadways, but certainly on mountainsides and in front yards. Considering the altitude and reputation for a lot of winter snowfall, I imagine it will have fresh snow... More

Hi Diana, just to provide another option... you can go from Tokyo to Kanazawa by shinkansen (around 2 hour), then by bus to Shirakawago. Bus ticket to shirakawago can be bought online(japanbusonline) or I saw some travellers... More
