Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of the "must visit" places when in Japan that is unique from any other attractions you typically see. Very interesting little village with old houses and building structures, tranquil, quiet, and relaxing place to immerse yourself in history.

Tourists are killing this village. There should be a limit daily.

I traveled from Takayama to the village and it was a mistake. Wasted money and time. I should’ve known that the place would be packed with annoying tourists just by the amount of them at the bus station. Once in the village, they all get out and start taking pictures of everything! Selfies, selfies and more selfies. I went to the observatory but it was packed with them as well!

I really felt bad for the locals who have to live and endure these people on daily basis. For this reason I left after less than an hour and because I didn’t want to support the way the tourist office manage the amount of tourists.

Tourists: Please respect the local, stop taking pictures and going on private properties.

Stepping into this village is like stepping back in time. It was such a beautiful village. I understand that there are a lot of tour buses but I honestly would not have wanted to make that drive on my own. Our tour bus stopped at an overlook above the village. It was so beautiful. We took our Christmas card picture there, it was that pretty. Then we walked around the village. It was just amazing how well preserved everything is. We really enjoyed this excursion. Totally worth it.

My friends and I book a tour by one of tour agent. Departed from Tokyo at night around 12 a.m. And arrived this village in the morning.
Quite lucky to saw light snow.
It might be more interesting when the snow is getting thicker. Visit this place in January maybe preferable.

Very nice village with mountainous view around. And I really impressed by how they preserve the building, landscape, etc.

We arrived at the perfect time, which was after a day and a half of the first snowfall of the season! The picturesque little village was covered in a thick blanket of powdery snow, it was just so beautiful! We spent 2 hours walking around the village and taking lots of pictures. What an amazing experience, totally worth the lengthy traveling!

We booked our own transport from Nagoya to this incredible site. The lack of snow dampened my spirit a bit, but finally setting my foot on the ground at this place brought a tremendous sense of joy and satisfaction.
I can only imagine its beauty when the houses are covered with snow.. this is a must visit site..
