Marple is a great little town, scenery is great. There is a small 'museum / information centre at the macclesfield canal / peak forest canal junction at the top of the lock flight. The town centre itself is 'quaint', but as you decend the flight...More

Driving through Marple, stopped off to admire the pretty set of canal locks and take a wet (it was raining) walk along the canal bank. Interesting area - only wish i'd of had more time to explore.

It's such an easy flight to do; hopefully, the Canal and River Trust will have it open by May Day Bank Holiday

Wonderful pretty location with a sense of history. You can easily transport yourself to an earlier time. And relax looking at the peaceful body of water. While also enjoying the wider lovely views.

Great place to visit. Take the children, they’ll love it. Watch the boats going up and down the locks. And don’t forget, the locks were first opened in 1796. Now that makes it worth a visit

An amazing feat of engineering, the 16 stone built locks rise up from the aqueduct to the marina at Top Lock where the Macclesfield canal begins. A pretty and interesting walk in any season with colourful narrow boats and lovely hillside views.
