We visited Jigokudani on the first day of snow (last weekend in November), so there wasn't much snow, but it was cold and the macaques were in their spa! We caught the bus to the park and the walk up the hill to the park entrance is quite strenuous for anyone who is not fit. Furthermore, the path was really... More

We parked our car at one of the free parking spots and walked the 2km distant route to the park. Along the way, snow was falling and the scenery was very nice with snow covered everything entirely. When we arrived at the park, we saw the monkeys hugging each other to keep warm, running around, and playing in the hot... More

Worth the travel to see the monkeys. The hike trail up is nice but slippery!!! Saw so many people fall n i nearly did too after I lost one of my self-brought clamp-ons. Either get the proper shoes or rent them or clamp-ons from a gift shop at bottom of Hill.

Easy day trip from Nagano to see the snow monkeys via an express bus. Then it's a 1.8 km walk through the forest to the monkeys. The day we visited it was snowing and the scenery was amazing. The forest walk was almost the highlight over the monkeys! It's an easy walk, our five year old did it with no... More

Snowstorm weather caused park and roads to close. Yes, weather is unpredictable but a better live-update system should be made to their official website. DON'T GO TOO EARLY. That way, you can check the hourly footage to see if the monkeys are actually in the pools. They were fully active the previous day but if we had waited till the... More

A quick walk up a very slippery trail. We arrived right at 9:00A when they opened and watched the park rangers put out feed that attracted the monkeys to the tourist area. They were right at our feet and scrambling around to get to the food and to the hot tub. It started to get crowded around 9:30 so we... More

We got here at 0900 am. We didn't realize that there was a 1 mile hike to get from the parking area up to the Park. It had snowed the night before, but that morning the sky was clear. It was a beautiful hike. t was a 1 mile hike, uphill....in the snow, but we enjoyed it. It has a... More

We stayed in a local Onsen a couple of minutes away from Yudanaka Station and caught the 8:30 bus up to the Monkey park. Snow had been falling for the past 4 to 5 days so walking to the park wasn't an option. We were glad we went early as the walk to the monkeys through the forest covered in... More

It is so special to be able to walk through a path in a beautiful forest for only half an hour and get to see such unique animals. I am an avid wildlife photographer and rarely is it this easy to get this close. Most people will never get the chance to be this close to such amazing animals. if... More

Instead of a package, we took the bus at Nagano JR Station to the Wildlife park and walked for around 45-60mins (with kids) to the monkey park. The walk was scenic and it was a good experience for my son to be so close to monkey. The monkey are used to human and seem to walk around freely. The path... More
