We have been going to the Lord Nelson annually for several years and unfortunately this may possibly be our last visit. The ales and drinks were good as usual but the service was poor. Food had to be returned to the kitchen to be cooked properly. The food seemed to be assembled from ready prepared ingredients eg filling of tinned... More

My family and I have been going to this pub for about 10 years. In the past it was a must place to visit. It always had a great selection of beer, the food was excellent and the portions good size. We have recently moved to North Norfolk and of course went to the Nelson as before we have done... More

Popped in earlier in the day and booked for that evening. when we arrived they had no record of our booking! there was no real problem as they were able to accommodate us. ordered a French wine from wine menu and they turned up with a Chilean one! then we were told they didn't have the French one! food I... We were very kindly allowed to park our motor home overnight while travelling around Norfolk. There was a charity event that evening for Norfolk hospice. We were very well entertained by Nelson shanty men in the large beer garden. The hog roast was excellent and all the proceeds going to charity. We can't thank the owners enough for also owing... Went on car treasure hunt with 25 people. The organiser Tony had booked a week ahead for sandwiches etc, it cost £12 per head and if I had paid £5 a head I would have been disappointed. The group must have spent another £100 between us on drinks. Very poor value indeed. Will not go there again!

8 of us, 4 adults 4 children all found the food scrummy. Husband enjoyed the beer and the surroundings. Lots of history about Nelson to take in and staff were very friendly.

Great food. Sandwiches to die for. Went back again. This time, meatloaf (yes, MEATLOAF, hand made on premises) with gravy, mash and veg. Gorgeous. Boss had brie and bacon toastie both times. "Never had a better one", quoth she! Such an historic feel to the alehouse that Horatio Nelson frequented in his younger years. But a beggar to find! So... More

Nelson's local still has bags of atmosphere and is well worth a visit. The meals I've had there have been well cooked and reasonably priced. Pity the range of ales etc is so limited; is that the fault of the brewery?
