Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After heading west along the northern shore of Lake Yamanaka, we headed to Yamanakako Hana no Miyako Park, located about 1-2km north.

There were free and paid zones here. We wanted to see the paid zone as well, so we paid the entrance fee and headed there. The free zone along the way seemed to have already finished blooming, and there were hardly any flowers around, but with Mount Fuji towering in the distance it was quite a sight.

The paid zone was a large greenhouse where we could enjoy a variety of flowers.

I visited because I wanted to see sunflowers. It was a weekday afternoon and I managed to find a parking spot.
Crossing the road from the parking lot and over the flower fields is Hana no Miyako Bridge, from which you can see Mt. Fuji beyond the beautiful yellow cosmos.
Beyond the first gate at the entrance to Seiryu no Sato are blue salvia.
Beyond the second gate is a field of sunflowers, where the late-blooming ones had not yet bloomed and the early-blooming ones had drooped.
What a shame!
But beyond that were beautiful zinnias in all colors!
You can see a variety of flowers depending on the season.
Inside the garden, we were treated to Shine Muscat soft serve ice cream and Shingen mochi soft serve, which are only available at this time of year.

Yamanakako Hananomiyako Park has two parts to it:

1.) The paid park - You get a ticket to see the park grounds which include pretty trees, water wheels, a man-made small waterfall, some flower fields, some flowers like wisteria, a lava rock display, a pretty little greenhouse area and a gift shop. It's a small place so just a quick visit, but a nice one.

2.) The free area of the park - Outside the front entrance and outside the side entrance are flower fields that you can access without a ticket. The side entrance tulip fields are particularly spectacular for beautiful shots of the flower fields with a backdrop of Mount Fuji. There's a small free car park besides the side entrance that you can use for easiest access.

I recommend coming here on a clear day for the best shots with Mount Fuji, though even on a cloudy day when Mount Fuji is hiding behind clouds, the flower fields are still very pretty.

Tips:
- There are 2 car parks nearby: one is near the front entrance - you have to pay to park there, but it's big and has lots of room. The other is by the side entrance and (at the time of writing this review) is free to park there, but it's small so doesn't always have spaces available.
- In the side-entrance free flower field, at the back of the field in one corner there's a camera stand installed especially for photographers to use as a tripod!

Unless you are really like flower, you can pay the entrance fee to enter the park. Otherwise you can simply enjoy the sunflower field and others , depending the season, in the front of the park for free.
The park is entirely man made, with fake waterfalls. i was expenting something a little more genuine.

This flower park is just 7 minutes away by bus from our ryokan in Yamanakako. Great place for easy walks and photo-taking. There is a nice restaurant inside which serves ramen and katsu at very reasonable prices.

We spent there a couple of hours. You can rent a bike for 4, walk around, and there is a playground for kids 4-10. You can also have a coffee while your kids play, or take a small visit to the lava museum (very small).

Although it's near one of the five lakes, it isn't the most inspiring. Drive on to see the other four.

We went on 4 Dec. The park was free from 1 Dec onward as there were no more flowers due to winter. That being said, the park was really tranquil with the beautiful background music glockenspiel. We also got a beautiful view of Mt Fuji in the background and with the rows of vegetation in the foreground. It would have been wonderful when the flowers are in full bloom.

What can make people happy? Just look at those happy faces among the flowers! It is also such a convenient place, just a few minutes to Lake Yamanakako.
