We visited Mirepoix 2 times. First on monday when there was the big market. The inner city was filled up with trade stands. What a life there is on mondays in the high season.Next was on friday - and also much going on there. It was market day for children. But not so filled up with people. For families -... More

A Monday spent in Mirepoix is not to be missed. The markets is full of interesting stalls, arts, crafts and small businesses with different kinds of product to sell. By far the best market we've visited in France. The setting is amazing surrounded as it is by the most lovely medieval buildings. Restaurants to visit for a restful coffee and... More

Wow.. A must go to place truly breathtaking I read the reviews before going honestly they back it up 100% when you travel to this location it is more a time travel to this location the buildings in the Main Square (800 years old) do not ever look like they've been built they look like they've grown from the Earth... I went to the village twice, liking it enough to revisit. Monday has a market; typically French although I didn't see the wine bar. 😀 I picked up some garlic, bio honey; I wanted a duck but my friends said "no". The knife sharpener is reputed to drink beer all day and cut a straight blade. I recommend a visit...I... More

We stayed 5km out of Mirepoix and found this small stunning medieval town to be a great place to shop and eat whilst exploring the Midi Pyrenees, Ariege and Aude regions. The town itself is well worth a visit simply for its stunning central market square, which on Monday mornings has a superb central market with bustling cafes and bars.... More

We stayed in the old town Mirepoix. We were 50 meters away from where the markets where held. Thursday is a small market day with produce. Monday is a huge market with produce foods beers wines bras and everything in between. The site sounds and smells are a delight. Do yourself a big favour snd visit the Monday market at... More

A quiet place with few tourists while we were there. The shuttered houses are perched atop old timber beams- many sagging and crumbling it is amazing the houses are still being supported after all this time! Not a great deal to do here other than to wonder around and marvel at how time seems to have stopped still here- nice... More

Beautiful town with unusual houses and old beams structures. Worth the trip and visit the market days. Parking was free but took a while finding a spot on market day while driving around the center but eventually you will find one if you go closer to end of the market time around noon or so when many shoppers leave at...
