From the train station we walked along the neighbouring streets till we arrive at an tourist information board on Kosdi ut, from here there are two curved paths to take to arrive up the hill to Calvary. The path to the right, which has some stairs along the way, takes you to the front of the chapel and was a little unkept. Calvary is a little round chapel which looks like a fortress, it was built in 1726 and was in good condition. Surrounding the chapel is a circular walled staircase which leads up to a rooftop terrace which we could not access. From the ground you can see part of the statues on the rooftop, the Calvary scene with Jesus on the cross and Mary, St Joseph and Mary Magdalene kneeling by the cross. I had read that the views from Calvary were good only we did not find this to be the case. The hike from the train station to Calvary took roughly twenty minutes and that amount of time to walk into the town centre from Calvary.

The calvary is mostly visited for Catholic holidays but all year around is a nice walking place. Next to the soccer stadium and nice parks for biking around.

Whilst visiting Budapest, we took a train to Vac which is one of the towns on the Danube River. We fell in love with Vac and whilst talking around, we saw the Calvary. This town has plenty of history and should definitely be on the must visit list.

The fortress-like building of the Calvary can be found in the garden suburb of Vác.
This place of pilgrimage was built between 1726 and 1738 and consisted a hermitage, a gathering chapel and the calvary.
