- Discover669124606991 contributionA standard everybody should look for'I have been at many Wine regions in the world, I've had many spectacular experiences but for some reason I always keep comparing them to Norton, the team here has really set up a high standar for me. This last January was my fourth time visiting, always improving and teaching me new things. They make you feel very welcomed. Wish all the places could offer what this crew does! But if you can, ask for Sergio! Always happy and willing to talk about wine.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 30 January 2024
- Julie L75 contributionsLovely wine tasting experience at Bodega NortonWe had a private tour arranged by our travel company. We especially liked the tour of the caves and then tasting in the underground area. Our guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job presenting the wines. We had 1 sparkling rose and 3 table wines plus a bonus tasting that our guide brought out. They were all good and we bought one bottle. Did you know that it Argentina you can carry on a bottle of wine on a plane? You can’t do that in California or the USAHi Julie, thanks for your comment. We are glad you´ve spent a nice time with us. This included ' mixing our own wine' which was so much fun! As mentioned Mel was great to talk to, answered our questions...made the experience even better! The winery is not suitable for disabled individuals/wheelchairs, or baby strollers. The only thing it has is an entrance ramp that is useless since no tour is suitable for it. It also doesnt have adapted bathrooms for them. Nobody warned us about this when making the reservation. If you have family or someone with a disability, you cannot go. is quite discriminatory.

Hi Luz,
My name is Claudia. First of all, thanks for your message.
We want to make some things clear.
Our wine shop has an entrance ramp.
As you probably know, Norton has more than 129 years of history, some parts have limited circulation. Our team explained to you that in some parts it was forbbiden to circulate with trolley.
Besides, the winery has more than 100 workers using hoses and machines . Due to our quality standards we can't circulate with weelchairs or trolleys in certain parts of the winery. And related to our cellar, it is 7mts under the ground. The best way we found for you, to be more comfortable with your baby, was to descend the trolley trough the stairs. In every moment, our team tried to help you.
Due to our long history and arquitecture we have limited access. We communicate this when people make the reservations and we are making more efforts to rethink our accessability in the near future.
Sorry for the inconvenients.
We are glad you´ve enjoyed the tasting, besides all.
Greetings,
Claudia

My wife and I joined Victor, our tour guide, and another couple from Florida on a tour of Bodega Norton. Victor provided a rich history of the bodega, from its founding to its present leadership. He showed us their wine making process, including some of the newer techniques they are using, which are experimental at this point. We took a tour of the founder’s gardens, the vineyards, the wine making equipment, and then down into the cellar to taste three wines. The wines were all excellent. Following the tour, we had a pared tasting menu lunch whilst sitting on a veranda overlooking the vineyard. We were very impressed with the chef and service staff. This was a fun and enjoyable adventure.

We visited Norton for a wine-tasting and tour in English (we had booked in advance for the English tour). Upon arrival we were told the price was 150 pesos per person (we were later to find out that everyone else on the tour was getting it for free!).
We tried five different wines but only one was really of any quality. The woman leading the tasting rushed us through the wines and then just disappeared without a word. When she finally returned she took us to the "cellars". Unlike in other bodegas, we weren't shown the actual cellars where wine is stored or any of the production areas, only the 'tourist cellars' as our guide described them! The "tour" only lasted about 5 minutes with little actual explanation of the production processes, and soon again our guide disappeared with no explanation leaving us sat in the cellars. At this point we saw a Spanish speaking tour pass (I speak some Spanish) and the guide was clearly explaining the processes and was opening bottles of wine mid-aging as he walked through the cellar for people to try.
We decided to leave at this point rather than remain sat in a cold cellar on our own. We went up to the reception room to pick a bottle to buy and wait to pay. After 15 minutes waiting our guide still hadn't appeared, but the Spanish guide was there finishing his tour. I asked if I could pay to him as we had been waiting for a while, to which he responded that it is free! Our guide then reappeared and claimed the other guide was wrong, the two guides spoke very rapidly in Spanish (too quickly for me to understand!) and our guide said she would give us a discount and we could pay 100 pesos each instead. At this point we just wanted to get on to our next bodega so we paid up and headed off feeling very ripped off!
It seems like the Spanish speaking tour is better, but for English language, with so many bodegas around, we would definitely recommend skipping this one.

We did a tour of the winery, had a lunch of empanadas, cheeses, and charcuterie – – with wine of course. And then most fun of all, we blended our own wine and had a contest to see whose wine was the best!

We arrived and we were the only ones there for a tasting and then we went onto lunch.
The tasting was a little lacklustre but the food and the wine pairings were out of this world.

This is a large winery located just 30 minutes outside of the downtown area of Mendoza. The grounds are beautiful and the winery itself is state for the art. However, they also use many of the older processes to produce their wines.
The cellar is amazing and provides a great ambiance for tasting of their better wines. If you have a chance take a tour of the old house as well.
The wines are very good and the tour guide, Miguel, was fantastic. I would love to do this tour again if I come back to Mendoza!!

We were taken to this beautiful location on the first day of a 5 day stay in Mendoza in September 2016. We have visited vineyards in other countries around the world but this was by far the largest we had visited. The scale of wine production in the district of Mendoza is staggering, and the amount of wine held in vats, barrels and bottles id amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent here and learned a huge amount about the wine making process. We also sampled some beautiful wines. We were just the two of us and the young man who was our guide was friendly knowledgeable and very pleasant, a really interesting experience.

Whats the average tour cost? On trip advisor I see tours taking people there but we have our own car and plan to drive there. We were quoted $150-$200 per tour. I assume this cant be right and its a language barrier. We are looking at merlot tour. Whats average cost spending day there with winery tour, lunch and a tasting?
Written 27 March 2017
Don't pay a separate company for a tour, whatever you do. Just book a place on a tour and for lunch. We did this and paid around $50 as a couple including the tour and two bottles of wine. The cheapest bottles of wine in there are as low as $5.

Visitaré Mendoza entre el 6 y 9 de Enero.
