I visited the mine in May, we bought the tickets at the store (cheaper than booking it in the town) it's a nice house, the family that owns the mine is very gentle. They take you up in the mine, the landscape is just absolutely...More

I visited with some friends back in May. While there are tours that can be arranged from nearby Tequisquiapan, if you have a rental car, it is better to drive. The tours cost 350-450 Pesos (around 15-20 USD), but if you sign up at the...More

My boyfriend and I found out about the opal mines from Foursquare while in Tequisquiapan and gambled our limited time in the area on a trip to the mines. This turned out to be the best decision we could’ve made! The ride up was rocky,...More

A family run attraction. Kindness and charm are their trademark. The trip up the mountain is quite an experience! (be prepared for a rather bumpy ride). The sweeping views from the top are breathtaking and you are able to keep any opals you find!

The tour won't happen if there aren't four people signed up. So if you're a couple or a single traveler, you might not get to do the tour. Sucks to plan a visit to Tequis around this tour and then not be able to do...More

I cant remember exactly. I think its 20-30 min to and from the mine, and I think around 90 min at the mine itself.
