We turned up at this house in early October to find everywhere locked up, and a notice saying that it was closed for the winter from 30 September. As entry is free, and the site is, according to other reviewer, unmanned, this seems to be...More

This maybe a ruin but it is atmospheric and magnetic. The story behind it is quite sad. It would be better to download the wealth of information about the house on line before you visit. Hopefully English heritage will be able to find the funds...More

This site, owned by English Heritage, is accessible by public transport. It is a short stroll from the bus stop. There are no staff on site and it is free to just wander and read the information boards. You need some imagination to feel what...More

A visit to use your imagination and immerse yourself in time gone by! A part preserved Tudor house and so glad it is. Step back in time! Free entry and worth a visit. Only takes about an hour and the views are amazing.

Was well worth the visit to see this fascinating piece of history. There are some excellent photo oppotunities here especially when you back up and see the entire house in one photo. Really nice to go around and read the information boards.

Impressive stately home, now in ruin, worth a visit if passing - free to get in. Interesting history surrounding the house and the family.

Free to park and free to look around, worth a look if your passing. Gardens are pretty. Just a shell of the house remains but it's interesting to see a different side to a stately home.

Not a lot of this once great house left now, just the stone structure. It is worth a wander around for half an hour, or longer if you walk around the grounds perhaps with a picnic. Space for the kids to run riot but nothing...More
