We visited Castle Acre, the Priory and the Castle on the same day. They are in walking distance of each other. The Priory is in very good condition and walking rounds the grounds was enjoyable. There's also a nice herb garden. There are tables to eat at but no cafe so bring your own sandwiches or even have a picnic... More

Often visit here and walk the dogs close by but i recommend a visit to the priory, its a lovely way to spend a few hours audio tours offered and parts still in tact.

Went today with Mum in her wheelchair and our dog, both welcomed by the staff who were very helpful, we were given a map of the site and told which route was best for wheelchairs. Its a good slope going down to the priory and I had to take a couple of rests pushing back up.

Castle Acre Priory is a fascinating place to visit. Although it's largely a ruin there is still a portion standing. We were able to take our dog round the grounds.

Lose yourself in the days before HenryVIII, how the monks lived and worked in this amazing place. Stroll amongst the ruins and imagine what it was like in its hayday.

We were very lucky and arrived just after opening (10am) on a gorgeous sunny Sunday. We had the whole Priory to ourselves. So well preserved that you are able to really imagine what life was like in the Priory.

Recently visited the village, including viewing the castle and walked from there to the Priory. As a member of English Heritage entrance was free, if not a member then there is a charge to visit the site. Comes with audioguide. Some useful commentary and exhibits to explain the origins of the site, the way of life for the monks, and... More
