Most Friday’s my friends and I would pop in as we live local. We would have one drink all together before going off our separate ways. This all stopped however when our usually drinks suddenly went up to almost £10 each?!
We questioned this with the lady behind the bar, who didn’t seem to know if she was coming or going, what she was serving or how to use the till... maybe she was new, what do I know! When questioned she seemed to ask someone who was in charge of the price sounded right...although he wasn’t the person I thought was management...
Anyway, he said ‘yes it’s ABOUT right’ so we paid for our drinks and never went back as it has never been this extortionate prior to this for a glass of rose and a rum and coke almost £20 was ridiculous.

Post dog walk refreshment
Oct. 2018 • Solo
I often come here after walking the dogs in the woods above Wye, but we come here regularly and have eaten a few times in the wonderful restaurant, but this is all about the bar.

This is a very cosy, although high ceilinged, bar at the front of the restaurant with a see through partition and an open fire for winter evenings. There is very herby beer patio and sheltered seating under the passage from the street to the rear - this is an old coaching inn.

The beers are Shepherd and Neame with Whitstable Bay the usual and a series of special brews rotating by season. The beer is very well kept and the bar staff friendly and a mix of regulars and visitors.

The decor is respectful to this old building and isn't a Farrow and Ball coat anything not moving tart up but it's contemporary without being a cliche.

This is a great place to while away a cold wet afternoon refresh after a bracing walk or just to sit and wonder who first thought of brewing hops and malt and water to make beer. Come here, you will not be disappointed.

Quick drink
Jul. 2016 • Couples
Stopped in Wye for a quiet look around, a wonderful small town/village with a very pretty church. We came across the King Head and were after a couple of soft drinks. The waitresses were pleasant and friendly. I added in to the drinks a chocolate brownie which was perfect, slightly crunchy on the outside and soft and gooey in the middle. Some wonderful surrounding, more wine bar esque than bar but beautifully done out. Well worth stopping for.

Great Beer and excellent wine list Comfortable sofas and dogs welcome
May 2016 • Friends
Very comfortable sofas in front of the double sided fire place .
Dogs are very welcome, even doggy biscuits are baked in the kitchen and are offered to those who attend.
Spitfire and Whitstable bay pale ale which is the facet sham steam brewery available on tap, along with Whitstable lager and San Miguel.
Snacks and sharing plates with drinks are very good .
Such a comfortable place for an excellent beer or wine from the well thought out wine list with a dog or dogs.
Others should take note.

Super service

Very friendly pub and service. Good food and nice surrooundings. Beer excellent too. We were wandering about outside as we weren't sure that dogs were allowed. Someone came out to ask if we were ok and we were very pleased to hear that dogs were accepted inside. A great plus for us..
