This breathtaking national park was formed by glaciers and is traversed by rivers and underground streams. Along the Tara river canyon, which has the deepest gorges in Europe, the dense pine forests are interspersed with clear lakes and harbour a wide range of endemic flora.

Not to be missed when you visit Balkans. Stay for night or two. Enjoy some walks and dramatic scenery. Eat clean local food, outstanding fresh air! Sleep well :)

We planned this trip and decided to take a jeep tour ("Ring of Durmitor"; with driver)- so we really got to see the best of the park. The views are beautiful.

Driving through this park is a visual dream, the gorge is drop-dead gorgeous. Glad that we had a bus driver to tackle the road's twists, turns and tunnels.

If you enter the park via the official entrance (road from Zabljak, where also the visitor centre is) it's €3 per person, because it's the fastest way to the beautiful black lake, with restaurant and playgrounds for kids... More
