The visitor center had interesting exhibits and helpful staff. It's right next to where the Ring Road tees. Left is the lake, right is the village and visitor center. A cooperative handcraft shop is next door with a great selection of lopapeysas.

Free, clean bathrooms are a precious thing in Iceland. Also, there are maps, and the staff are very friendly and patient in answering questions. There's also some information about the area & the geothermal activity. Good pit stop if you're looping around the lake.

There was lots of good information to be had about the Myvatn area at this centre. It was clean and very easy to get to. Best of all, it had a bathroom!

Our tour bus broke down at Myvat visitors center. We knew there would be a long wait before a replacement would arrive. The ranger on duty, Haraldvt Avdbergsson, was so helpful by providing his break room and supplies for coffee where we could relax and enjoy the center. The time went quickly and we were able to learn a lot there.…
