Winter Magic in Palmie

Winter is a great time to go to Palm Beach. Have breakfast at the boathouse then take the walk up to Barrenjoey Lighthouse for the best views In Sydney ... how good is this

Really stunning walk - you could picnic if you wanted up there. The photos and view are worth every step up there. The paths are very good and manageable. Be aware you cannot get water or food at the lighthouse so bring all you need. A top tourist spot so can be busy.

Amazing views from the lighthouse. I found the walk very hard but in saying that I'm coming of the back of a broken ankle so maybe it's not to hard. My advise is to take water with you and go to the loo before you start as there are no toilets on the track or at the top. There are... More

Our four year old had no problem with this walk - don't miss it! Walk is a bit steep in places but not long. Views from the top are great. Would like to have been able to go up into the lighthouse but wasn't open when we were there.

Fabulous views, well worth the climb up the path, not if you are unfit and the descent by the Smuggler's Steps is not for the faint hearted.

Top marks to NSW Nat Parks & Wildlife for much needed improvements to the walking tracks up to Barrenjoey Lighthouse. Parking at Governor Phillip Park needs you to prepay & display a ticket on your car dash, also make sure to use the public toilets at the carpark because they are not available at the peak. You will need to... More

Can't beat this on a nice day ! Take the stairs up (you'll eventually ascend 60m) and return via the longer (no stair) pathway. You'll stop at every chance on the way up and down to see another glorious view. This is not a hard walk.

A really lovely looking lighthouse - even a non fan of architecture such as myself can enjoy the sandstone design. The tour was very informative and there were lovely views of Sydney's coastline from the top.

Be sure to wear suitable footwear. You can go up using the stairs or use the longer route without the stairs. It may be better to go the longer route up with kids and the "Smugglers" track down as it is steep. The view up top is great but no shade or water. Be sure to take some with you.... More

Walked up the main track and back down via smugglers track. According to friends we were with, track has been greatly improved. Better to walk up main track although longer is a steady incline whereas smugglers track is shorter but steeper and more uneven. Great views from the top in all directions. Now a path to the headland as well.... More
