Saw "The Rock". Big BIG ROCK. It had a nice view from the top. My camera took the best shots. The rock is just a rock. The view is the best part. Climb wasn't bad but entrance fee was a bit steep for me.
Many tour companies sell package tours here.
my husband and I went here on our own.
Take a metro to Caribe station. (2400)
Continue to Terminal Norte de autobus and find counters 9-14. They sell tickets to Guatape city and the la Piedra is on...More
A great walk up to the rock, and absolutely stunning views. Easy to get to from town, we went by tuk tuk and collectivo on the return (which was slightly cheaper). An absolute must in Guatape and in my opinion, Colombia
A must do, It is really beautiful, but when you want to see sunrise, you’re a lost cause. The rock opens at 8am not 5am like advertised here. Sunrise from the parking lot is a beautiful 2nd option, but not the real deal!

I had a layover in Medellin and at the top of my list was to visit el peñón de Guatapé. Having just completed Machu Piccu and Rainbow Mountain in Peru this was an easy climb. The cost was 18,000 pesos and it's just under 700...More
Lovely view from the top but probably not worth the price or climb. Entrance in 18000 Colombian plus whatever else you have paid for the logistics. Easy enough to visit from Medellin or Guatapé no need to do a tour. Very crowded at the top.
This is the second time that I visit “El Peñol Stone” and always worthwhile to come here. From Medellin it is a nice travel through villages and beautiful landscapes. It is a great experience because you must climb over 700 steps. It is a good...More
Whilst the climb to the top wasn’t the easiest (659 stairs), it was worth it when you got to the top. You then had the most amazing views every over the local countryside.
I would recommend doing this on a weekday if possible as we...More
