Mimoyecques, where the stories of Hitler, Kennedy and Hussein meet !

As an underground launch site, the Mimoyecques' Fortress is one of the most impressive edifices imagined by Hitler.

Located a few kilometers from the site of "Deux-caps", in Landrethun-le-Nord, at locality of "Mimoyecques", this secret base was expected to be used for the installation of the giant underground V3 super gun.

Like other V-weapons, the V3 was foreseen to bomb England, especially London.

The Site was shelled by the Royal Air Force, on July 6th 1944 with Tallboy bombs, wich put an end to the grave threat for Londoners.

In 2013, La Coupole oversaw the works of the legacy development of this former base for a new historical visit.

New to me and interesting scene of V 3

Did not previously know of this further victory weapon of the 3rd Reich which fortunately was attacked before it was put into effect

The story behind the building is really interesting, although no world rocking events took place here (except the bombardments which rocked the place around a bit). Nothing much to see except some explanatory panels on the walls.

This site was part of the Leger Battlefield tour, I had not heard about the V3 before this trip only the V1 and V2 sites, so was really keen to attend the site and find out more I was really impressed with the scale of the site and the size of the tunnels the staff where really well spoken and... Recently visited whilst staying at the nearby village of Landrethun Le Nord. We visited as a family and found it excellent and really made you think just what might have been ..... From the outside landscape you would have no idea what is beneath! Took some fantastically eerie photographs of the tunnels. If you are interested in WW2 sites don't... More

If the "London Cannon" had been invented 24 months earlier or "Tall Boy" had not existed then London would have really copped it. This is a spectacular WW2 site. It is a bit difficult to find as the powers that be have seemed to block the display of any clear road signs to it, but persist, it is well worth... More

Visited this place as part of a Leger battlefield tour. If this hadn't been detected by the resistance and the allies then the new v3 terror weapon would of succeeded and that is something not worth imagining. Thank fully due to allied bombing this never took off. Yes it is only a long cave with side bits but when you... More

What can I say, it's a tunnel, well with a couple of side tunnels too. There's a few signs up to tell you the history of the place and it is a massive piece of engineering (or was). It needs a fair amount of investment to make it an attraction or charge less for entry. I'm glad we went to... More

Thank you for your visit, but I’m sorry to read that you think that the fortress is only a tunnel as it is the only V3 base built by slave labour. The scenography has been done by historians, and gives you all the explanation. If you wanted more details, you should have asked the staff at the reception, it would... More

Quite difficult to find but well worth the effort. We visited France specifically to visit the V weapon sites and this was our first stop on way from Calais to St Omer. Lovely friendly staff gave lots of information and I was amazed at the complex of tunnels built by slave labour. Do make the effort - warm clothing a... More

An interesting visit to Forteresse de Mimoyecques; loads of information about the V3 secret base of the London Super Gun, that was being commissioned in WW2 by Hitler to destroy London. A little off the beaten track - we were on our way south from Dunkirk so wasn't too bad, but was still very interesting. Was very cold underground, and... More
