Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The light house is beautiful, So is the View.
Unfortunately the General rules of COVID 19 are not respected- Social distancing is not followed. This is a Problem as the time to wait to get on the lighthouse was More than 1 Hour.
Even worse That the staff members get abusive when asked for Support to Keep the distance.

Hello, We are really happy you enjoyed our lighthouse. We are very sorry to hear people did not respect the social distancing and we also know some people do not respect the mask-wearing which is mandatory both inside the lighthouse and the park. However, there isn't much we can do, as you may have noticed the staff members are already quite busy and in these complicated times, it is also the responsibility of each individual to comply with the rules. Obviously, that doesn't mean we aren't taking this seriously and are slacking off, we do update people and remind them of the rules whenever we have the time. Thank you for your comment, though, we will pay more attention to people not wearing masks or social distancing outside. We wish you a good day.

The Cap Ferrer Light House / Phare has a nice location with a splendid view on the Grande Dune du Pilates. However, we never got to see ist, as the opening hours differ from the website as well as the signposts where it says until 7.30 pm. In reality it closes at 7 PM. We arrived at 7.02 PM with several other tourists explicitly late to avoid masses of other tourists and were told it closes at 7pm. We told the staff to correct the website and signposts. They responded in a very unfriendly style: The Gift Shop ist open till 7.30pm and hence no corrections needed. Very unprofessionell.

The Cap-Ferret Lighthouse was commissioned in 1840. It is 57 metres high and has 258 steps. It has been classified as a historic monument since 2009.

Remember to visit the blockhouse. There is a lot of information about the lighthouse. It is located on the right before arriving at the lighthouse.

Watch out for opening hours. Visits are not all day and stop half an hour before closing.

Small tip: you can rent bikes to get to the lighthouse and go around the island; it's very convenient.

It is a visit to plan during your visit to Cap Ferret whose entrance is 6 €. The lighthouse was rebuilt after the Second World War and the stairs are wide enough to be able to cross without any problems.

After a beautiful series of steps, you can admire the views of the ocean, the Cape pine forest and much of the Arcachon basin with the dune of Pilat at the bottom.

At the end of the visit, a shop offers a large number of regional products for sale. Don’t miss the visit to the small bunker on the left of the lighthouse on your way out.

Situated on a headland the lighthouse has extensive grounds which are quiet and peaceful. There is a visitor center at the base of the lighthouse and, admission to climb the 250+ stairs is EUR6.0 for adults. The panorama at the top is 360 degrees. It's open daily from April to September from 10am but, in the Winter, only on Wednesday and Sunday.
Just across from the visitor center is a renovated Second World War German bunker which is an eerie experience.

We hiked up the 240 steps to the top of the lighthouse I love panoramic views. I love being above the world and seeing the whole world (well maybe just the area) and all it has to offer. We hike up every tower, lighthouse and don’t get me started on rooftop bars.

This is an old lighthouse, which you must visit on foot up a twisting staircase, although there is a lif, which seems to be not available to the public. Once at the top, there is a spectacular view of the Arcachon peninsula with a view to the East of the bay and the Dune de Pilar and a view to the West of the Atlantic.

well what a fabulous view from beyond the old lighthouse at Cap Ferret across to Dunes de Pyla and Arcachon Bay.
Even saw a water taxi arrive with 4 passengers onboard, arriving for lunch at the restaurant near the point and he even took a bank card for payment! The views are fantastic and has to be visited.
