Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s worth to visit this small chateau. It’s in the centre of Nérac. You can visit part of the chateau only and the whole trip takes about 40 minutes. There are 7 rooms and in each room you can find drawers with smells. You can discover about 20 different scents- all reproduce smells from XVI th century. There are some smells like Neroli oil, musk, rosemary, green cardamom, cloves ,grilled meat and some smells of ,very often not very pleasant like horse sweat, foul odours, armour maintenance. Some drawers contain smells of XVI th century perfumes. In the kitchen room you can see sample of food and sample of banquet menu.
Really nice .

Beautiful chateau set in a small town.
7/8 rooms , around €15 for us all, which was great value for money.
Each room has smell boxes, these are smells typically of the era. The children (and husband) really enjoyed this.
There are no English translations of any of the signs or informations points, but there is a small English guide which was useful.
Only took us about 30 minutes to go round,l so we took a little walk around the town.

I utterly enjoyed wandering through the Chateau Musee Henri IV. I don't see a lot of 16th century buildings in Australia, so it was a novelty for me. It is fairly small, only 5 or 6 rooms, and fairly basic but very evocative. There is a lot of information there. And the square outside is a perfect spot for lunch, breakfast or dinner. Well worth a visit.

Only one of the four wings can be visited because the other three were destroyed during the revolution. We came with our two children (5 years and 9 years). The tour is fun with brochures adapted to the age of the children. Throughout the tour, smells related to the time can be discovered. Free parking is available in the immediate vicinity of the castle.

It is the Chateau Henry IV that attracts most visitors to Nerac. Only a part of the original chateau remains but it is a very impressive wing of the original castle, with a round tower and an arcaded balcony with decorative columns running along the first floor level.
Pleasant visit, Inexpensive, there are only a few rooms in the castle left. It is a very pretty architecture. Historical monument and very famous.
Superb building, stronghold of Albret has suffered a lot through the ages but well restored. Place steeped in history. Very interesting with a lot of historical paintings and costumes. Very nice collection of paintings retracing the history of this king. Good food and good wine is heaven on earth said Henri IV the best loved of all French Kings.

As others have said, this looks terrific from the outside, but unless you can get a tour, there is genuinely little of interest inside other than a model of the complete chateau. Architecturally speaking, there is very little of interest, and at 8 euro entrance fee, unless you are a real history buff, I'd give it a miss.

Fabulous isn’t to much to say about this place, effectively one of Frances high echelon of tourist venues to visit.
Lots to see and take in, my biggest gripe is paying to get in though not having any pamphlet etc to read for the tourist in English a complaint I had against several venues visited.

Not too much to see, but simply standing in these ancient rooms absorbing the past and appreciating the history adds another dimension to a visit to the area.

A small-ish museum and historical site, well worth a visit either for the history or simply to see the remains of the castle. Well-presented, and ncie explanatory notes throughout. (The accueil will provide an English booklet to wander with if needed.)
For the children (and young at heart) the "smelling history" exhibits throughout are a treat.
