A beautiful garden to visit if you are touring (need own vehicle) around Trentham, Woodend area.

Gardens are well laid out and cared for.

Shop in the old house is full of gardening goods and interesting heirloom seeds - but be careful that you can take them interstate.

$15 entry fee - if you are not a member of the Diggers Club.

Cafe was not open the day we visited - but there is a sole cafe option in the quaint town of Blackwood nearby.

We spent a wonderful few hours at the garden on a beautiful day in early March. Met friends for lunch in the cafe, then walked off our meal by wandering through the many sections of the gardens before spending time (and a few $) in the Diggers Club shop. The cafe's menu is not that extensive and service not the friendliest, but we didn't let that stop us having a very pleasant meal. I went for the 'Garden Vegetable Platter', a colorful assemblage of roasted veggies, all fresh from the on-site gardens. It was delicious, although I thought the plate was tad on the small side. The gardens are full of variety and colour and a delight to walk through; we backtracked more than once but that didn't trouble us in the least; in fact, gave us a chance to catch things we missed first time around. Last stop was the shop, brimming with seedlings, packets of heirloom seeds and other garden-related goodies (including some very flash looking insect hotels). Costs $10/person to visit the gardens.

What a spectacular place for a weekend retreat! With first class accommodation and amenities, blissful surroundings, I felt I was living the luxury. A real bush experience for anyone visiting but without the roughness of the outback. The tents were amazing, cosy and fly-proof. We ordered breakfast in the morning and received muesli, yogurt, strawberries, grapes and banana bread. There were 2 bottles of milk, one bottle of orange juice and cold water. A great range of tea too and Lindt Chocolate on arrival. There is also a kettle and lamps on the bedside table. The bed was really comfy as were the armchairs. At night, we heard beautiful, calming sounds of nature such as kookaburras, frogs and other birds. We also woke up to the same sounds in the morning. The amenities were spotless and had everything you need. No need to bring towels, hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The garden was lovely to walk around, especially after closing time. Highly recommended for a peaceful and relaxing weekend away.

I attended the z organic Weed and Pest control Workshop at the Garden of St Erth in Blackwood, and I was rather disappointed in the presentation. Whilst he is the head gardener there and obviously knows his stuff, he didn’t appear to have put too much prep work into the presentation There was no structure to the presentation, no visuals, no handouts, not even a working whiteboard marker. He also had a really soft voice which didn’t carry well, often mumbling. Cost $84 to attend for 1 1/2 hours, and I felt I should have gotten a lot more out of it 😢

We were really looking forward to a visit to The Garden of St Erth, to both look through the gardens and shop, as well as dining in their cafe. The cafe ...... there were no available tables outside in the courtyard so we chose a table indoors overlooking the nursery. The decor is tired, the windows ridden with cobwebs, wasps buzz at the windows in search of an escape route ...... not what we expected. The menu is limited but has something for everyone including children. Locals beers are on offer, wine too but only two available by the glass. Service leaves a lot to be desired in various ways, our meals were incorrectly delivered, we then waited while the correct dishes were prepared, delivery of cutlery clumsy, clearing of tables nonexistent, no follow up service for ordering dessert and coffee. After lunch we visited the gift shop, nursery and gardens at $10 per adult. Whilst the gardens are pleasant, the cost is probably a little steep for what you actually see. Although we had a nice time I certainly wouldn’t rush back and wouldn’t be inclined to rave to others about this venue and garden.

The garden is fantastic and the nursery excellent. The cafe however provide poor service and the manager is not only rude but agressive. We were verbally abused because we dared to move our table into the shade on a warm day with strong sun. This was despite the fact that there were tables when we got there that were vacant and shaded. We were ushered to a table that was entirely in strong sun. The rudeness and abusive tone was quite shocking and entirely unnecessary. Will never return there again.

The garden, while not very large, had a lovely display when we visited over the March long weekend. There is a large carpark if the first carpark is full. There are also seeds and plants that can be purchased. Very pleasant if you are in the Blackwood area.

Called in Sunday very busy both car parks full. Lovely sunny day many people out for a drive and lunch in the cafe. Covid 19 rules apply but we did not sit down. We found our wanted plants the garden area is lovely. The road in is narrow bitumen all the way do not take a large mobile home or a caravan.

The gardens are extensive, well planned out. Lots of variety in plants and trees. There is a cafe, which we didn't go into. The building itself is something of interest. Plenty on parking. Well worth a visit if your in the area.

We stayed the night in one of the tents. It was most enjoyable.
Sat out on the deck having dinner listening to the birdlife.
Facilities are amazing from the comforts of the tent to bathroom, kitchen and community room. Every little detail has been thought through.
An early morning walk throughout the gardens is the icing on the cake.
