For a family day out Duxford air museum is a fantastic place to visit with plenty to see and do for all the family members. You don't have to have an interest in planes but it's fascinating to learn more about life in the forties...More

A great place for families to see planes up close and personal. A great place also for WWII veterans and history buffs to share information if you are lucky to be there on a day when a WWII reunion group is visiting.

The curator has managed to not only put together a collection of world class aircraft, but also to painstakingly create numerous stories of individuals connected to these aircraft. This feat enables the visitor to gain an understanding of the grisly purpose of the machines on...More

Absolutely fabulous day. Went here with my friends learnt so much about these aircraft. The volunteers were very knowledgeable eager to explain. We learnt of one piolet whose history Baugh him back many years after the war. Incredible day.

Worth the extra walk to the top of the hill for this part of the museum. Accessible and fascinating. Enough information on each plane for me. Well designed exhibition

The American Air Museum is included in the admission at IWM Duxford. It probably has the largest concentration of American aircraft outside of the US. One unexpected highlight was seeing a piece of the Berlin Wall. The design of the building gives some unique and...More

How long is a good time to spend here? Main reason for visiting Cambridge is to visit the IWM Duxford for a Classic Wings flight. Is it possible to see both museums and do the flight in one day?

In my opinion you could do both. The American Museum could be visited in 2 hours, with the rest of your time devoted to the other museums/attractions. The advantage is there are cafes/toilets at both sites. I personally... More
