Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Alone it Stands is a thoroughly good romp! The story covers the time the Irish beat the All Blacks at Rugby in 1978. All based on fact but you don't need to be a rugby fan - I'm not. The six actors play all 62 characters involved and they do a mighty job. They must be worn out at the end of the play, but you get the feeling they are really enjoying themselves. The choreography is wonderful too. Highly recommended and will leave you with a smile on your face

Somewhere lovely to take your overseas visitors or to convert your non-theatre-going friends. It's right on the water at Kirribilli so the views from the restaurant and bar are gorgeous; yachts bobbing at their moorings and ferries and boats to and froing in the main harbour. Why not catch a ferry there - the theatre is just a short walk from the ferry stop through the beautiful streets of Kirribilli. The restaurant (Bayly's Bistro) has a considered menu and the food is beautifully prepared, with a good range of wines available by the glass. A 3 course dinner with a side order will cost around $100 per head without drinks, so it isn't cheap, but nor will it break the bank, and the great view and excellent service make pre-show dining here a must. You do have to eat earlier than most people are accustomed to but tell your European visitors to just think of it as a late lunch and the views are much better in the daylight anyway. The theatre itself is tiny. In fact if your seats are in the front row you are actually sitting on the stage. This means the experience with the actors is much more intimate than in most theatres and definitely adds to the level of audience engagement. The standard of the shows there is very high and the shows I've seen there have had high general appeal, so should even please people who don't usually go to live theatre. We had the delight of seeing "Midnight Murder at Hamlington Hall" which was very, very funny. We had a wonderful night and will be back soon. Highly recommended, enjoy!

We were just walking about Milsons Point when we stumbled upon the Ensemble Theatre and decided to buy tickets for a performance of The Memory of Water. What a pleasant experience it was! Excellent acting and the manager and staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating to these American tourists. Go. You won’t be sorry.

Saw a production of 'A Doll's House' recently at the Ensemble and thought the performances and modern interpretation of the production excellent. It was also my first visit to the Ensemble for about ten years and I was reminded what a gem this place is. The theatre itself is is small, intimate space, where no audience members is far from the stage. The building is perched over Careening Cove in Sydney Harbour, and the theatre's bar directly looks over the cove. It's a fab place for a pre-theatre drink. And for a pre-theatre meal, there is a bustling restaurant strip in neighbouring Kirribilli. All up, a real Sydney gem.

Nearer the Gods - This is a fabulous play by David Williamson covering part of the life of Isaac Newton and the trials and tribulations that the Royal Academy put him through. His research and conclusions were very nearly not published!! A wonderful cast and play. Not to be missed!

New play 'Outdated' by Mark Kilmurry
This play is terrific fun. It stars Rachel Gordon and Yalin Ozucelik and is about two middle aged people back on the dating scene and all the pitfalls.
It is very well done and thoroughly entertaining.
Highly recommended and it runs until 17 April.
Face masks are required at the theatre

It was our first time at the Ensemble and had a great night ,the play was Black Cockatoo and what a story unknown to most Australians. We had our dinner there which was nice and worked in well with the start of the play. Not a bad seat which has you nice and close to the action.
Great night had by all.

My last play at the Ensemble was the story of the first touring sport team ,that ironically was Indigenous .
Besides not knowing about this amazing story ,it was directed and acted to make a sport story interesting of an Indigenous cricket team touring England in the 1860 s.
The great set in this small stage gave the actors lots of business .It was as is customery with Indigenous stories
Funny and very moving . It should be noted the lead actors first time on stage .
Please let it be seen again soon.

The set was creative in the small space and gave the great actors lots of interesting business
