This square was celebrated Yi sun shin who was the best general in Korean history. Except this square, many famous place was celebrated Yi sun shin. The square had statue of General Yi and scupture of the Turtle Ship that was General Yi's signature ship. There was good to feel Yeosu sea, and many restaurant was operating.

Yi Sun-shin Square is unavoidable if visiting Yeosu as you’ll pass through it going somewhere or will be eating at one of the restaurants nearby. The giant Admiral Yi statue in the middle of the rotary is arguably the most recognizable spot in the city. The square has some informative displays about Admiral Yi also. Unfortunately, the replica of the turtle ship was closed for renovation. While not much time is needed to see the square area, there are lots of restaurants and bakeries nearby (a lot of them with Yi Sun-shin or turtle ship related names).

Really, how can you not stop and check this out? Impressive creation. Be careful and crossing the street to the square. Traffic is pretty crazy!

There is a full scale Geobukseon (turtle ship) just across the plaza that is set up so you can go in and see how it would have been, with signs explaining the importance of Yi Sun Shin and the Geobukseon. Most of the info plaques are translated into English. The statue is impressive. If you like history, esp maritime history, this is a good place to stop and learn about Geobukseon. Definitely worth checking out for a little bit if you're in Yeosu. There is also a nice oceanside walking path with shops and vendors. Not really a whole lot else there, but still interesting.

If you come to Yeosu, you will come here without a doubt. This is almost like the center and main area of the city (the city is huge, but along the water this is a huge part). My brother and good friend of mine saw some performances here and ate some good street food. My brother and I came here all the time. This is my favorite little spot to come and chill at in Korea. I miss eating pizza and having a beer while looking at the water in the sunshine outside of a restaurant. If you come to Korea, please come to Yeosu!!

There is a turtle boat and a statue of Yi Sun Shin. Not much signage in english. But the inside of the turtle boat was fun to look around for 10 minutes.

It’s surrounded by many restaurants. And sort of the center of town. You will find yourself here anyway.

The boat itself is nice and seeing everything here takes about 30 minutes. I would probably not drive all the way from Daegu ot Busan to see it, but if you are in the area why not? What else are you going to do or see in Yeosu?

This is arguably the centre of activities for Yeosu. A statue of Admiral Yi Sun Shin stands in the middle of the roundabout at the entrance of the square, giving tribute to the famous loyal and skilled naval commander. As you head down the square there are lots of restaurants and also information on the history of Admiral Yi. At the end of the square there is a recreated geobukseon (turtle ship) that can be entered. If you follow the road left of the square (while facing the sea) there will be a lot of tents selling food and buskers playing music at night and this stretches for quite a bit, giving the area a lively atmosphere. The square itself has events and performances on weekends. You can’t miss this square if you are visiting Yeosu.

As a traveler this place should be visited at least once. Especially with kids as a model warship will be an interesting attraction.

I heard that on the weekend there are busking performances, and very much fun, a great place for young people to hang around. There is a turtle ship model next to it, have a look for sure, and a statue of Yi SUnshin.
