Pick a lovely day and enjoy the gardens

The Castle needs a lot of TLC. The tour was only in French but I can speak a little and they gave me an English pamphlet. The family still lives inside in their own quarters. It... read more

We thought that for the price paid we can see the castle also, but it was closed. The gardens had nothing special to see. In addition, the castle looks deplorable. Certainly you can spend your money and time to go elsewhere.

We checked the official website for opening hours. We arrived and the main gates were open. We walked in to be welcomed by a man telling us to get out. We then found a large notice at the gate pointing us to another entrance. En-route we checked with 2 locals to be told that the chateau was closed for renovation.... More

The Castle needs a lot of TLC. The tour was only in French but I can speak a little and they gave me an English pamphlet. The family still lives inside in their own quarters. It is a little strange to see the family pull up in a regular car and park it out front. It takes away from the... More

We toured the chateau gardens (not the interior) during the European Heritage weekend. The garden was a bit plain and the chateau itself was in a state of disrepair. There are a few water features (long canals) that were nice to walk around, but no formal gardens or pretty flowers. A closer look at the chateau and surrounding buildings shows... More

Yes, of-course its the chateau that the punters come to look at. but we love this elegant village in its picturesque rural setting above the river Indre. It is certainly crowned by the massive medieval fortress. As we wheeled around a bend in the river,on the opposite side, we were gob-smacked by its fairy tale image. As we ambled, winding... More

We liked to visit this chateau but we found out that it needs a lot of maintainance. The owners are not careful with the property. Sunshine every day through the windows are damaging the expensive furniture and curtains....

I confess I thought the price a bit high. But have no regrets. Wonderful surprisingly decorated rooms. Great visit when in the neighborhood.

This Chateau is within just a few hundred yards of the village of Dampierre and it's complete with moat. We paid to visit both the mansion and the gardens, though you can choose to visit the gardens only. The mansion is accessible only by guided tours and they leave approximately 40 minutes apart, but get there early as ours had... More
