It’s well worth an effort to visit this structure, climb up is very modest and the views are simply amazing. Church on site is well preserved too. All in all, one of the highlights of southern Cappadocia.

If you climb to the panaroma point at sunset, you will not regret! The town is really like a small Cappadocia with its unique landscape and history. You can visit it on the way back from Ihlara Valley.

A fabulous valley with about 8 churches in it and underground cave houses to explore. Unlike Goreme you are unlikely to see anyone else. Possibly my favourite place in Cappadoccia.

We hired Serap from Reliable Travel (see my separate review) for a day tour that included the little town of Guzelyurt and this incredible valley. We first found out about this town from watching a Rick Steeves video, and we are so glad we did...More

After the crowds of Goreme open air museum, what a delight to get to the monastery valley and be the only people there! Very peaceful. The actual valley is very tight and almost surreal. You can almost feel the history as you walk along. Some...More

Guzelyurt is, in my opinion, the best undergound city in Capadoccia. It's well preserved, contains some amazing tunnels you can scramble through, and is free of too many terrible tour groups. I was the only person there when I visited!

The underground city at the beginning of the valley was amazing (but terrifying). To enjoy it, you will have to pass through a hole in the ground, lowering yourself down using footholds carved into the walls into a 10 feet high shaft into darkness to...More

This little valley has some interesting cave cities, carved out in the mountain sides on several levels and including many rooms and churches. We didn't see any other tourists, although this was the end of June. Interesting from a historical point of view, especially if...More

The whole monastery valley is interesting. First the underground city where you can wander by yourself and the abandoned Greek houses. If you continue you will end up in a mini Ihlara valley (but less discovered). You can easily pass a day in Güzelyurt. I...More
