Wonderful place to visit and take the wine tour. The facility is outstanding and architecturally unique. The entire structure is supported from the exterior walls by the undulating interior wooden rafters. The tour is special and informative, though not up to the Marques tour (see...More

Being a pair of complete lushes we've visited a few bodegas in our time, but I can't recommend Ysios enough. Silvia was an amazing guide, who spoke excellent English and despite having done a few tours before this one we learnt a lot from her....More

Dazzling splendour of Ysios Bodega; suddenly shimmering through the haze like a gigantic wave - a spectacular bodega emerging from grapevines. Architectural wonder of Santiago Calatrava. It was worth it to drive all the way to LaGuardia, enroute north to Bilbao. This is rioja country,...More

I think everyone comes for the architecture by Santiago Calatrava. I'd expect the weather was better that day so that I can see the mountain behind... anyway, we went in for a improvising wine tasting and for my husband and myself, we were not so...More

Bodega Ysios by architect Santiago Calatrava uses it´s wavy structure to compliment the grandeur of the mountains in the backdrop. I had never seen anything like it. Because of it's remote location it stands out in the best way. The staff was GREAT! For me...More

This place is stunning outside and in. And that alone is the reason to visit. I didn't do the full tour, rather just a tasting. The tasting experience was mediocre at best. I didn't particularly enjoy the wines, but I am glad I checked out...More

We loved our tour, and the grounds are beautiful - but the wines are really expensive (min 25 euros a bottle). Not as good as our visit to casa primicia.

The architecture was my big draw. Worth a visit. The tour guide was very good, she kind of recognised me from my previous visit last year. The wine was pretty good as well, but I was driving and could not have much

This is the best Tour we visited. Very enthousiastic guide who explained us how to taste the wine. Also a good explanation About the winery proces. Visit this vineyard!

Hi all, My partner and I will be doing a 3-week trip to Spain, with a week in the Basque and Rioja. We will have a car. We are hoping to be a bit spontaneous in terms of our schedule, but it seems from what I'm reading that the bodegas at least require advance reservations. Is this true across the board? Also, any info about hotels in these small towns would be helpful. We are going in the shoulder season, end of September. thank you!

Hi Jessica, we stayed at a lovely historic hotel in LaGuardia close to the Ysios winery called Castillo El Collado - a very short drive or 15 minutes walk away. The receptionist at the hotel was very helpful in booking the... More

If we only have time to visit either Bodegas Ysios or Bodegas Marques de Riscal, which one would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

We took both tours and that is a hard question for me. It probably depends on whether you are visiting other bodegas and whether you are a Calatrava fan or a Gehry fan. Marques de Riscal is a more traditional tour and has... More
