Although built at the same time of the great castles in the Loire valley, Talcy remains untouched by the popular Italian style and its love of decoration. The wells, outhouses including press and dovecote and the garden all emphasize the rural nature of the estate. The castle has retained its interior decoration and furniture from the 18th century. Site with the "Outstanding Garden" label. This was a wonderful surprise. A delightful, compact chateau taking about an hour to visit, with large gardens to wander at leisure, and a lovely gift shop. Whilst I could go on about the rooms and what you may find in this lordly residence, I was most impressed with the extremely well thought-out information sheet. This gives you the history,... More

Being the first visitors of the day has its advantages. We had a personal suggestion by one of the staff of how to approach our visit to this beautiful chateau. He took time out to tell us what was where and what to see first. A big thank you to that gentleman. The Chateau is a little away from the... More

A small interesting chateau in a peaceful rural setting. The dovecote and wine press were particularly intriguing. Whist we enjoyed strolling in the gardens, they are rather in need of a little TLC.

What a pleasure to discover that small chateau a little way away from the larger chateaux where the "big" aristocracy resided. Ronsard spent a little time in Talcy which gives another type of appeal to the castle.

Although the Chateau de Talcy is a smaller one, it's undoubtedly one of the cutest. Its garden, though smaller, are an alleviating experience. Worth of a stopover to get touch of medieval life

Set in a small viallge in the heart of the french countryside this small chateau is a joy. If you are interested in the way the haute bourgoisie lived from t he 16th to the early 19th century this is a must. The house is on an intimate scale when compared to the more obviously glamorous (and crowded) chateau on... More
