This venue is a must when you visit Newcastleton, the history is there to see. It is all very well set out and easy to understand. very much worth a visit.

its maybe a bit 'busy' and certainly not really very child friendly but it does offer some interesting insights into local life. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.

Lovely small museum, gave lots of interesting facts about the area. We were only inside for approx.. 15minutes but couldn't complain for the price. staff very friendly.

Easy to park outside, this small museum holds a wealth of local information concerning the area, Border Reivers, the origins of the village, railway and local life. It costs £2.50 to get in, with no concessions. The staff are volunteers. There's lots of photos, items...More

Went to Newcastleton especially to look around the museum. Many fascinating local bits and a lovely railway corner.

Signage outside the town gives no ideas of where it is or the fact that it doesn't open until Easter even thought it's the school holidays. Shame.

Although small, the centre holds a surprising amount of interesting information and exhibits. If you're interested in how our ancestors lived, this is definitely worth a visit.

Photo albums of school children group photos early 1900's many named. School register from 1850s listing children names and moneys paid for schooling! Photos & newspaper clippings of local area for last 100 years.... Many local boarder names mentioned: Armstrongs, Grahams, Elliots, Robsons, Crozier etc......More
