The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.

Went there with my sisters and we get a very good price as a family. The process was awesome. They have someone who speaks Mandarin and English if Japanese is not your language. We were assisted by several people and all of them were friendly and professional. There are lots of kimono to choose from depending on your size. All clothes and socks seem cleaned and well kept. Our appointment was made online and we started at 11:30 am. Our hair were also done nicely. Really worth the value. We needed to return to the store at 4:30 pm and we had plenty of time for photo shootings at Asakusa. Highly recommended this place if you have not tried Kimono.

I had make an appointment on 10.30am, due to some unexpected reason, I reached the shop No.1 on 11am, I explain to the person in-charge but she refuses to bother me, just ask to sit and wait but the shop is empty and no customer. After 10mins, she came and told me because I'm late so I cannot choose the design of the kimono, ask me to make the payment immediately and change my cloth. I understand that I'm late so I didn't mention anything. The chinese girl at shop 1 really super unfriendly. Won't go anymore!!

My wife and I decided to try out exploring Asakusa in Yukata. We booked in advance from here and they sent an email to confirm our booking with some instruction.
The shop is on the outskirts of Asakusa area facing Skytree. We were late 30 minutes as we didn’t realize our journey would take longer than expected. But the staff was friendly and understanding.
We Wee first to confirm our package and make payment. We were then told to remove our footwear and keep our belonging in a big bag.
Then we choose our outfit based on our height and size. We then get dressed with help from the staff. For men, we will wear three layers of clothes. The inner clothes are thin, perfect for summer. We then can choose a satchel to carry our wallets and hand phones.
Once we are ready, we will wear the slippers provided and they will take our photo and print them out for us to keep.
You can also booked a rickshaw ride through them. We did that and it was the highlight of our experience. We rode to take photo with the Skytree and ride around the Sensoji area.
After rickshaw ride, we walked around the Kaminarimon area in our yukata and people wanted to take photo with us. It was quite comfortable walking around in it. And we have no difficulty going to shops and restaurants to eat.
When we are done, we go back to the shop to return the outfit. I will consider this as an experience of a lifetime if you visit Asakusa area.

This experience made me look like Japanese for a day -- a pretty one for that matter. The staff were very kind and accommodating and they did a good job with the hair styling. There was a lot of Kimonos to choose from and the stylists were very attentive to detail in dressing us up with the Kimono.

I rented for their most luxury style of Kimono which is Eba-Furisode, the customer service experience was good, but not the kimono itself. Let me start from the beginning, for Eba-Furisode, which cost about 9600 yen (the regular ones only cost 2980), they have only 6 different ones for you to choose. And they don't let you choose for Koshihimo or Obi which is the belt part of the Kimono. (I heard in other stores you will be able to pick) I can tell there is not a lot of people willing to pay that much for Kimono rental, so when the Japanese lady heard that I picked Eba-Furisode plan, she looked a little surprised. Well, I am not from Japan, I don't know the how to put on a Kimono, but I can tell from the photos that the way their dress me up is a little off? Please see the photos that I have attached. I have to say, all the staffs are friendly, but are the Kimonos authentic? Probably not. Does it worth the money that you are paying for? Defiantly not.

I stumbled across this shop completely by accident, I went in asking for directions, and left with a booking in the morning for the full monty red samurai armour fit out. What an experience! The fit out easily takes 20 mins, with a seemingly endless amount of layers, belts, cords to be tied, straps to be fastened, jackets, armour, a sword and an awesome helmet wth HUGE horns to be worn. After a few photos, I thought that’s that, but then they said I can walk around the temple, so after taking my sword away, off I went. I created quite a stir, EVERYONE wanted their photo taken with me, awesome experience, recommended. Just practice your samurai expression. I tried a serious expression, but it just looked as if I was in pain, lol.

Went to Japan on my own couple weeks ago.
It was a great experience to be there and get to wear the hakama (even it was so hot) and took some photos in asakusa.
I also got a camera man with me to take some really nice photos :) it was definitely a very nice souvenir but just takes a while to get the photos ....... the staff was nice and very patient with me when I'm trying to pick my own kimono :) definitely recommend!
