I visited this museum and was pleasantly suprised with the detail of the collections. You must visit while the Monet exhibition is still there as it is fantastic. Definitely a museum not to miss in Ueno

I appreciated this museum even before I stepped inside. A sculpture garden full of Rodin's works, including "The Thinker" and "Gates of Hell," stands near the entrance; and the building shows off Le Corbusier's typical 1950s design. Inside, two exhibitions held my interest, but I...More

The permanent collection is excellent. Very close to ueno station too! Highly recommended. Lockers are available so you can leave your coat and bags securely. Love the gorgeous Monet and the wonderful Picasso.

Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
