I visited this museum and was pleasantly suprised with the detail of the collections. You must visit while the Monet exhibition is still there as it is fantastic. Definitely a museum not to miss in Ueno

I appreciated this museum even before I stepped inside. A sculpture garden full of Rodin's works, including "The Thinker" and "Gates of Hell," stands near the entrance; and the building shows off Le Corbusier's typical 1950s design. Inside, two exhibitions held my interest, but I...More

I've made two visits to the National Museum of Western Art over the last 5 years. With a great permanent collection and good temporary exhibits, it is always a great place to spend an hour or so. It makes a great addition to your visit...More

The permanent collection is excellent. Very close to ueno station too! Highly recommended. Lockers are available so you can leave your coat and bags securely. Love the gorgeous Monet and the wonderful Picasso.

I really enjoyed this museum, particularly the opportunity to see a number of works by Impressionist artists. There were some good works by Monet, Renoir and Courbet, and more Rodin sculptures than I've seen apart from the Musee Rodin in Paris. My favourite painting was a...More

Nice museum with many european paintings in there collection, such as Monet, Renoir, and many old masters. Even a Jackson Pollock. Went there to see Rafael which was very nice.

Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
