Visiting this temple is a good way to start your visit to Ueno park. It is busy with young couples and parents praying for new life. The view towards the park is beautiful, even in the fall.

Ueno park is full of things to see, temples, shrines, museums and ponds. This is one of said temples, I think it is dedicated to childbearing and to getting pregnant. One interesting thing is down the side of the temple is a walkway above the...More

This temple is located at Ueno as well. There are several other temples & shrine in the same area. Walking distance to zoo & a few museums as well. You could definitely spend several hours in this area. Subway: Ueno Subway Station Admission: Free

It’s a national heritage listed small temple, located in Ueno Park. As it’s on a higher ground, Shinobazu Pond can be seen below the park. There were two willow cherry trees near the temple, but they had already finished blooming by the time we visited.

It has "Moon Pine Tree", which appears in Hiroshige's Ukiyoe. However, this is "new" moon pine tree. The one Hiroshige drawed has gone. If the time is right, you can see beautiful weeping cherry trees in front of this temple.

From the top of the hill, you can look down on this Shrine and it really pops. The view from behind with the reflection on the pond is also beautiful

Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
