Neighbourhood: Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We will provide information about Chokeiji Temple in Nishi-Asakusa, Taito Ward. We visited Chokeiji Temple on October 3, 2023. To access Chokeiji Temple, exit Exit 3 of Tawaramachi Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line and walk 50 meters in the direction you are heading. At the first corner, you will find Matsumoto, a seasonal restaurant. Turn left there, and after walking straight for about 180 meters, you will find Chokeiji Temple at the second corner. Chokeiji Temple is a temple of the Otani sect of Shinshu Buddhism. The founding date of Chokeiji Temple is unknown, but it is said that it was founded by Oka Yusei in Sugo, Nukata County, Mikawa Province (present-day Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture), moved to Kanda during the Bunroku era (late 16th century), then moved to Kanda Myojinshita, and moved to its current location in Asakusa after the Great Fire of Meireki. It is a modern building and does not look like a temple from the outside, but there is an entrance in the garage area on the first floor of the building, and inside there are plants and the main hall. I hesitate to go inside.
