墨田区亀沢の「緑町公園」にある「津軽家上屋敷跡」についての情報を発信していきます。「津軽家上屋敷跡」を訪れたのは2023年5月4日です。「津軽家上屋敷跡」へのアクセスは、都営地下鉄大江戸線「両国駅」A3番出口を出るとT字路になっていますので、目の前にある横断歩道を渡り、すぐ右側にある「北斎通り」を240ｍほど直進します。二つ目の信号(表示名「すみだ北斎美術館」)の右手に「緑町公園」があり、「津軽家上屋敷跡」はその中にあります。
現在の「北斎通り」と総武線の間にある「緑町公園」あたりは、江戸時代に、「弘前藩津軽家上屋敷」がありました。その敷地面積は、「北斎通り」から、「京葉道路」までの約8000坪ほどあったといわれています。実は、本所に上屋敷のある大名というのはあまり多くありません。説明板の幕末の切絵図を見ても「弘前藩津軽越中守」、「平戸新田藩松浦豊後守」、「陸奥黒石藩津軽式部太夫」の３家しかありません。しかも、大藩で本所に上屋敷があるのは「弘前藩津軽家」だけです。「弘前藩津軽家」が本所への屋敷替えを命じられたのは元禄元年(1688年)のことです。幕府から神田にある上屋敷、浅草にある中屋敷を本所に移すように命令を受けたそうです。それと「津軽家上屋敷跡」には、もう一つ面白い話があります。それは、通常、火の見櫓で火災を知らせる時は板木を鳴らしますが、「津軽家上屋敷」の櫓には板木の代わりに太鼓が下がっていて、その太鼓で火事を知らせていました。なぜこの屋敷の櫓だけに太鼓が許されていたのかは誰も知らず、不思議なこととされていました。これが本所七不思議の一つ「津軽の太鼓」の話なのです。

屋敷跡の両国物語の立て札の写真を載せている人がいるが、表門跡の看板はこちらが正しい。表門は京葉道路側に存在した。

ＪＲ両国駅から徒歩5分ほど、京葉道路をまっすぐ東に進むとファミリーレストランのジョナサンがあり、そこの前に案内板がたっていました。津軽家上屋敷はその名の通り津軽藩の屋敷だった場所になります。かなり広大な敷地面積を誇ったようですね。
