This cluster of hundreds of hole-in-the-wall bars is a spectacle to walk through. The bars span themes from punk rock to traditional Japanese to 70’s funk. A few disclaimers for the neighborhood is that many of the bars seem to have covers for tourists, the...More

Decided to take a look based on TA reviews since we were in the Kabukicho area. Not too hard to find and lots of tourists but it certainly was a special place and worth a look even for non-drinkers.

Everywhere you see recommendations of the bars in Golden Gai, but it was a big disappointing. There are many small asakayas style places, but many of them now charge a entrance fee and you notice that beer and drinks prices are more expensive than other...More

about 300 small bars open up here after about 9pm most have about 3-4 seats an are super small and neat but also many "massage" ladies and many guys trying to steer you into places. If you are alone or easily intimidated it can be...More

There are so many small restaurants. When I go inside, everyone needs to sit closed to each other. And food was ok, price is too expensive.

This is a place that looks much better in photos than the experience you will have in person. It's a narrow street with brights lights from the yakitori food stalls and LOTS of people. It's good to walk through but none of the restaurants actually...More

The cover charges for the tiny bars were expensive so me and my friends (who were locals in Tokyo) didn't bother going inside any of the bars but it was so much fun walking around the tiny streets with their adorable lanterns and peeking inside...More

Tokyo is full of very cool areas and Golden Gai is among the best. It is unlike anywhere I have ever been. A tightly packed area full of (apparently) over 300 tiny bars. The majority only fit between 4-6 people. Some are a lot more...More

Lively at night and even busier on weekends. The sports bar is there and is nice for a drink and food, you are as safe in this prefecture as you are in you'r home. Worth a look and a good laugh sometimes.

Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and

Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the
east, there’s a district with long-established
department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku
