Akio was a fantastic guide and managed to keep a bunch of less than 30 year olds entertained without killing us. We saw heaps of Tokyo. Great job

My wife, two teenaged sons & I thoroughly enjoyed our six hour bicycle tour hosted by husband & wife team, Akio & Mika. We cycled around back streets & visited parts of Tokyo that we wouldn't have otherwise seen in our first four day leg of our visit to Japan. The cycling is very easy & almost unbelievably is downhill... More

My husband, two kids ages 16 and 12, and I joined this bike tour. My kids and I can bike but we are not terribly confident bikers. We were also ill-prepared for the chilly weather on the 28th December in Tokyo. My daughter was shivering and Mika just took the jacket off her back to let my daughter use it!... More

My wife and I booked a 3 hour tour on a Sunday. Whenever we vacation abroad we try to book a bike tour as we feel it is the best way to get a feel for the locale. This did not disappoint. Akio was an excellent guide; friendly and speaks good English. We saw the Imperial Palace, the Yanaka Cemetery... More

Akio met us at the meeting point on time and spoke good English. He was super nice and took us to many attractions during the tour. We road on paths and quiet back streets (you would not otherwise use a tourist). The bikes were in great condition and he took great care in making sure we were fitted and comfortable.... More

My husband and I took this tour the first week in November. The meeting place was very easy to find and our guide, Akio Sato, was very professional, knowledgeable and personable. There were other riders with us and Mr. Sato took time to get to know each of his guests. What we loved most about the tour is seeing parts... More

A wonderful way to see parts of Tokyo that otherwise you would not see on your own. Experienced tour guide Yashimi made this ride a success.

Akio was a great tour guide, and his English was very good. He took the time to chat with each guest, so it felt like a true cultural exchange. The biking was nice, through neighborhoods so we could see the non-touristy side of things. Bikes were very good and the route was easy. Very few hills. The six (seven in... More

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
