About
EAGLE TOKYO BLUE is one of the largest gay bars/clubs in Japan and is definitely a must-visit for any trip to Tokyo. The stylish space is popular with both locals and tourists, featuring a huge mural by gay artist JIRAIYA. The bar venue turns into a party space on weekends, with DJs, Drag Queens and GoGo Boys performing special shows you can only catch at EAGLE TOKYO BLUE. You can sing Karaoke at midnight!

Neighbourhood: Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.

Note: This is very similar to my experience at the Eagle around the corner.

And my experience here also proved the old adage that a gay bar is a gay bar is a gay bar is a gay bar.

They were playing the same music that you'd hear in a gay bar in the US, and the drinks were over-priced, There were no drag queens present the night we were there.

The space itself is fairly nice and the mural of the naked wrestler on the wall certainly warranted attention. I also liked the lighting much better than the place around the corner - It was darker and had much more of a clubby-vibe.

Fortunately, there weren't as many English speaking tourists there so that's a plus, but there didn't seem to be much happening. Perhaps we were too early at 10pm?

I'd consider giving the Eagle Blue another chance the next time we're in town.

Had a good night here, a nice space with very friendly staff. It was a busy night with a mixed crowd, drinks are pricey , however happy hour was GREAT value. I’ll be back.

My first time there, and I speak Japanese, I ordered a Long Island Iced Tea at 1400 yen, the bar tender felt the need to speak his broken English to me and said for 100 more you can get a large size. Then they charged me 2400 yen. I complained in Japanese about THEIR mistake, and they said “shouganai” which means nothing can be done. They take no accountability for their mistakes.

Go to the regular Eagle Tokyo where you can get all you can drink from 6pm-9pm for 2000 yen.

Welcomed with a smile as soon as we walked in and the whole staff team were so friendly. There was a really warm atmosphere and coupled with a couple of drag performances and a fun crowd, we had a great time.
Not sure what the reviews from a few years ago are referring to but it’s clear that Eagle has built up a great team and created a fantastic place to visit in Tokyo.

Can’t you find the shark another home? It’s kind of distressing watching it hardly being able to turn around in the fish tank. The world is pretty cruel to gay people, why do we need to be cruel to other creatures?
