We happened upon two weddings taking place when we visited this beautiful shrine after being on Harajuku Takeshita street. Not easy to find unless you have GPS. A smallish shrine, but very clean and presentable. It was really cool seeing weddings taking place. Very serene...More

Harajuku can be a bit crazy- even the sometimes tranquil Meiji Jingu shrine is bonkers at the weekend. Don't even start on Takeshita-Dori- elbow to elbow with people browsing the neon stores. Togo Shrine is therefore a welcome spot of peace and quiet in the...More

The Togo Shrine a small temple hidden behind the very busy Takeshita Street in Harajuku. It can easily be reached by heading down a small alley half way down Takeshita street and then climbing some steps on the right. When I visited, the Shrine was...More

Perfect if you want to hide for a while from the bustle of Harajuku. Otherwise rather dull and there's nothing to do.

What a tranquil and calm hidden gem! We accidentally went to this area and we loved it here so much. It's such a contrast between the busy Takamishi shopping district and this zen quiet , uncrowded area right next door. Absolutely a great find and...More

It was a nice break from the craziness of Takeshita Street. Peace and tranquillity. The shrine was small but still nice. If you follow me the path down, there is a nice and quiet Garden and pond. Took some amazing pictures and it was not...More

Much prefer smaller shrines to touristy big ones. Lovely garden and pond with Koi before the shrine. A temple of serenity in bustle of city.

Not much going for this shrine....just a local Harajuku experience, but I bought an amazing treasure there many years ago. The dealer was not familiar wit the signature, but I recognized it as a very early Raku piece from Kyoto. Maybe first or second generation,...More

Saw this on the tourist map and decided it was a good place to chill a bit in between frenetic shopping. And indeed it was. Lovely small ornamental lake is attached. Most of the information was in Japanese but a quick Google search provided the...More

There are countless opportunities to shop in the
Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops
that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest
areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's
Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to
recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh
yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast,
Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool.
