The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.

A Lovely Experience With 360º Views
This was well worth the timed ticket entry to get a visit up on the rooftop of Shibuya Sky. It was all very organized and easy to get up to the top. Once there, you can stay as long as you want. It's not just a great view, snap a few pics and go. It's a really nice environment that is VERY large with couches around the perimeter to hang out and lounge as well as an elevated area in the middle with astro turf to hang out or relax. Great music is playing the whole time and we just wanted to stay and stay and stay longer. We didn't have the clearest day, but the views of the city were gorgeous. Can only imagine if the skies were clear how far you could see! Once it got a little too chilly, we found out by accident that if you head for the exit and go down just one floor, there's an enclosed area with still the same big glass window views. It's not only warm in there, but there's a bar/lounge where you can grab a drink, sit and still enjoy the lights at night. This is a beautiful location and floor 13 of this building has a LOT of classy restaurants if you want to eat and continue to enjoy views of the city. I recommend getting a reservation for those first, if that's what you plan to do. Overall - if I knew someone was going to Tokyo, I'd recommend they come to Shibuya Sky, whether during the day or at night. Also, if you're looking for a great place to propose to that special someone -- this could be your spot!!

    Go for the view
My husband and I visited Shibuya Sky in early April. We enjoyed our visit, but I think my expectations were a little too high. Yes, the view was outstanding and there were a lot of great photo opportunities. But there were also a lot of people standing in line waiting to get up to a corner where they took dozens of photos while the rest of the people in line waited for their turn. We spent a lot of time standing around. On the way out we walked through the Sky Gallery, which was interesting, but we didn’t spend much time there. Would I go again? Yes, I would return for the spectacular view. That alone makes the visit worthwhile.

    Worth the Hype
Gorgeous views. But I’d definitely go at sunset. We got our ticket for about half an hour before sunset and stayed until about an hour afterwards. Gorgeous views. Very glad we booked early to get that time slot.

    Scenic Shibuya Oasis
Shibuya Sky is a captivating observatory deck offering breathtaking views of Shibuya Crossing. The bustling cityscape below unfolds before your eyes, providing a mesmerizing spectacle. With comfortable seating and a relaxed atmosphere, it's an ideal spot to unwind and soak in the vibrant energy of Tokyo's iconic intersection for hours on end.

Incredible view from the 18th tallest structure in Japan
We enjoyed visiting Shibuya Sky. Entry for the observation deck costs 2200 Yen for Adults and 1700 Yen for high school-aged children and you must book in advance – at least in the summer when we went. The view is fantastic, and you get to watch ant-sized people cross the Shibuya Scramble Crossing below. There is a distinct lack of shade on the deck, perhaps to discourage people from staying for long, and staff don’t love it if you come inside for a while and then go out again. If you say you are going back to the lockers to get something that seems to work, as they quickly lose track of you and you can go back up again. On a clear day, if you face WSW and squint, you might see Mount Fuji. Once you’ve had your fill of the view there is a gift shop and a café to visit.

    Lovely views of Tokyo
Shibuya Sky is located at the top of Shibuya Scramble Square. You take a lift from the 14th floor, all the way to the top. The observation deck offers a 360-degree view from 229 meters above Shibuya. It's a great way to see the skyline and various parts of Tokyo.

    Don’t miss it.
Amazing experience. It was closed at first due to bad weather but after some time in the shop and inside area it opened. Lots left early before it opened - so I guess the tip is to be patient! Well worth putting on your trip agenda.

    A must do!
A must do while you are in Tokyo! Be sure to book tickets in advanced as it can sell out quickly. Elevator is quick and the staff ensure everyone makes their way up quickly and efficiently. On the top, there a 360degree view of the city, we were blessed with great weather!

    Incredible views of Tokyo!
This newish attraction was definitely worth the hype BUT you absolutely have to book in advance- one month to be exact, especially if you want sunset views. Book about 1 to 1.5 hours prior to sunset. You enter at the 14th floor to access the elevator that takes you to the top. Being outdoors with unobstructed 360 views was such a cool experience. It felt like you could touch the planes flying overhead. When an epic rainstorm blew through, we all rushed to the lower indoor observation deck and watched the storm while the neon lights lit up the city. Even if you can't go outdoors , the indoor observation deck was still very impressive and there was a decent gift shop to boot! Definitely worth the hype!

Really loved doing shibuya sky. We did it at night time as tickets were hard got for Sunset. A friend of mine went during the day and I preferred doing it at night. The lights if the city were beautiful. Queue was fine and really well organised. You can spend as long as you want once you’re up there. You need coins for the lockers in the venue. Would recommend doing this!

- Make sure you book your ticket well in advance. We booked 3 weeks before our visit and got a slot on our last day just before dusk.
- You can either access the entry area via the top floor of the mall or get into the elevator at ground level. We were not aware that one can access via the mall therefore we had to wait in line in wet and windy conditions.
- Once your ticket is checked you get on an elevator that takes you from the ticket office/waiting area to the actual observation deck.
- When we arrived it was very crowded with people sitting everywhere. In the hallway and worst of all in front of the windows, partially in groups. This made access difficult. I assume it was because many got an early time slot and were waiting for the sun to set to take night photos? The fact that the roof terrace was closed due to strong winds probably contributed to the crowding. Either way it was unfortunate for those coming later.
- To make things worse there are numerous art installations right in front of the windows probably taking away 15% of the total window space. Another 15% are blocked by the gift shop.
- Whoever was in charge of the lights apparently has never taken any photos at night. Not only are there spot lights shining directly at the windows, additionally there are led strips along the ceiling and most of the art has additional lights. Taking good photos at night without any reflections thereby pretty much becomes impossible.
- All criticism aside: The location is great, you can see most famous land marks including Sky Tree, Tokyo Tower, Shibuya Crossing and of course Mt. Fuji on a good day.

I suggest you book tickets in advance especially if you're planning to go during sundown as it gets rather crowded. Sunset time is also the best time to be there because you can see the beautiful skyline as it transitions from day to night. The view of Tokyo at night is amazing!

Awesome place. Exceeded. expectations. If the weather is nice, you can spend 2+ hours here. Wonderful view of the city and birds eye view of the Shibuya Crossing. Gets sold out early so some planning needs to be done.

Lots of Instagram crowd queuing up to take pictures in various corners felt a bit weird for me. But the views were good in the evening. It did allow you to appreciate the scale of the Shibuya crossing, but it felt very distant and we much preferred actually walking the crossing to get a feel of the chaos!

I really enjoyed my visit to Shibuya Sky. It offers a very good view of Tokyo from high up. The observation area is well-designed, allowing you to see the city in all directions without anything blocking your view. It's a good place for taking photos.

There's an area called the Sky Gallery where you can learn about the different buildings you can see from the deck. The staff were nice and helpful during my visit.

I went there in the evening and got to see the city at night, which was great. I think Shibuya Sky is worth a visit if you want to see Tokyo from above. It's a nice experience.

Amazing views. Highly recommend to plan to go for Sunset but arrive early as line ups for the most photogenic spots are common. Very busy during sunset time but absolutely stunning to look from.

Shibuya Sky is one of the most popular post-COVID tourist attractions in Tokyo. Its location in central Shibuya is very convenient. Admission tickets (Klook Special Promotion @ JPY 1,800/adult) for specific time slots can easily be purchased online in advance; the ones around sunset hours are usually sold-out first. Remember to wear a windbreaker, as it gets quite windy in the rooftop. Travel light, because visitors are only allowed to bring their phones and wallets up to the observation deck; everything else must be kept in the lockers (JPY 100/locker). Enjoy the view and take lots of photos! The souvenir shop has a good collection of gifts including Hachiko related goodies. However, the Paradise Lounge which serves snacks and cocktails is not always open. Please note that selected shops at the Shibuya Scramble Square hand out small gifts and sometimes discounts upon presentation of the Shibuya Sky tickets.

Great view at the rooftop. It’s a must see!! You can see everything of Shibuya and Tokyo tower. Bags and tripods are not allowed on the rooftop but they have lockers. It is strictly prohibited for safety reason. Lots of great place to take pictures. Gallery and cafe are both available for use. The elevator to the rooftop is amazing with light show on the ceiling on the way up.. and it is fast 🛗💨 all floors are clean. Overall, amazing experience especially while at the rooftop. Just a reminder, be cautious if you are afraid of heights 😁
