What an amazing experience. Mariko and her family treated me to the most amazing experience. I was welcomed into their home of 4 generations under 1 roof. They took me patiently through the steps of teaching me some incredible crafts. The finale was lunch prepared by Mariko's mum. Her food was comparable to any top restaurant and I felt leaving so special and spoilt by my experience. Take a cooking class and learn the local culture. I cannot recommend enough.

I took my family of 5 to Japan for 2 weeks over Easter and everyone wanted to go to Tokyo. Unfortunately there are no hop on hop off tours of the city and the guided tours I found were full or inconvenient.

When I found Mariko's one stop Japanese culture session I signed up not knowing what to expect. We started at 10am in the morning and everyone was begging to stay when we had to leave at 3pm. My 9 year old girl loves the origami, and Calligraphy, my 12 year old son loves the food, learning how to use Japanese ingredients to make awesome food from scratch, my 18 year old found visiting a 4 generation Japanese family home in Tokyo a more intimate and interesting way to learn about Japan. My wife and I loved it all. We highly recommend it! Mariko's English is good, and she customizes the time and and content to make it perfect for everyone involved.

Dear Kankoryoko-san Thank you very much for your wonderful review. Our family had a really good time with your family. Your family's Origami and Shodo works were really wonderful. Please cook Okonomiyaki at your home and use Froshiki in your country! And your Japanese was perfect. Thank you again!

We have just spent the day with Mariko and her mother in their home, participating in a number of traditional Japanese arts. Origami, furoshiki, calligraphy and learning how to make okonomiyaki was all very interactive and lots of fun. In addition to making okonomiyaki, Mariko's mum had prepared many side dishes all of which were delicious and we were stuffed full 😀. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get a taste of some of the unique crafts Japan has to offer. As an aside, we had no trouble making our way to the right metro station or finding the right exit - easy as!

This One-stop Japanese culture experience was briliant! Our host Mariko met us at the subway station then after a short walk we arrived her home. We were shown how to make origami and then with some help we made sushi for lunch! We were taught Japanese calligraphy and practiced the art of furoshiki ( wrapping gifts with fabric ). We also made 'matcha' green tea, which we enjoyed with a little dessert we chose from a traditional Japanese sweet shop. My husband, my teenage sons and I really enjoyed our day and recommend this to anyone who wants to find out more about the wonderful Japanese way of life. Thank you Mariko for your kindness , it was an honour to meet you and your family!

We came to Japan for our honeymoon and have just gotten back after the most amazing day with Mariko and her family.. We were originally just looking for a cooking class, but got so much more, and I'm so glad we chose this experience!!! The food we cooked was delicious, but the food Marikos okaasan (mother) cooked was AMAZING!! And nothing was too much trouble.. There was so much food, and such variety, the best meal we have had in Tokyo this far (and that's saying something because Tokyos food is really great!) We got to learn some origami and some traditional arts, which was both fun and educational and we walked away with some truly awesome trinkets that we had been able to create ourselves.. The art of wrapping (forgotten its name) will amaze you (we were left wondering why we even HAVE wrapping paper!!) If you're wanting to take in some culture, learn some cool stuff about JAPAN, cook/eat some amazing food, or just hang out with a super cool family, this is the experience to beat them all!! This really has made our trip..

After playing tourist with all the sight seeing and hectic subway rides it was really nice to join Mariko for the day in her home and learn about several Japanese arts. Mariko met us at the train station and from that point on it felt like I was visiting with a friend. She took us into her home where we spent time with her mom and daughter. It was so nice to be in a home and treated so warmly while being educated about the culture. Mariko speaks great English and is a wonderful teacher. The food that we helped prepare was excellent. Mariko's mom cooked for a restaurant and the taste proves it. Make sure you do this when in Tokyo.

This was one of, if not the most fun tour of my entire trip to Japan. I loved it and find myself showing off my origami skills to anyone who will pay attention. The best part was the attention to detail and the opportunity to ask questions. I have practiced making gyoza since I came back as well.

Now, I should add that my favorite meal (of all meals) is Chicken Katsu Curry and when I mentioned my failed efforts at finding the perfect and particular spice that is in use to make the curry sauce, Mariko answered that question and then took a step further. She showed me the spice, provided it as gift and delivered in email the directions in how to make it. Wow! Now every time I make the curry sauce following the provided instructions I think of this experience with a giant grin on my face.

This experience really meant a lot to me. My brother and I had a great time. I recommend this experience to anyone and everyone.

Thank you again to everyone involved!!!

Me and my partner absolutely loved our experience that Mariko took us on. We learned some fantastic cultural items that we will forever cherish!

Learning caligraphy, origami, traditional Japanese etiquette and some delicious food ticked off all the boxes for our trip to Japan.

We would definately recommend doing this during your time in Japan, especially if you have a real desire to learn more about its rich and wonderful culture!

Thank You Mariko!

My 11-year old daughter and I equally had the most wonderful time! It was a well-rounded class and certainly a must experience for all ages. we ended up with so much more than we expected. Mariko also gave us tips which we used straight away so I suggest you all take this class on the onset of your trip. It was reallya lovely bonding experience with my daughter. keep it up Mariko! You are inspiring and touching lives with your work.

This is a must visit for every Manga aficionado! And you won't getan wet even on a rainy day as the broadway is completely covered shopping arcade. While at street level you have many restaurants most of the manga shops are on the second to fourth floors (elevators; wheel chair accessible )
